I got called by my Credit Union yesterday saying my debit card was compromised. I told them to terminate it. No transactions were done from it. Nice work from the bank. Been a member of them for 20 years.

Out of curiosity, how did they know it was compromised if no transactions were made on it? And for that matter, what does "compromised" mean?

Very appropriate request. My bank doesn't know all the details, but appears that someone attempted to gain access to my account and were denied. That bank in turn contacted my bank and they called me. All this took place in a matter of 6 hours. Impressive.

I get it. I have to admit the incurable cynic in me was wondering if they'd somehow managed to "accidentally" compromise your account through a computer error or something. Glad to hear I've been proven wrong. That is impressive...don't suppose your credit union has a branch in Michigan?
