I'm reading this book by Stephen J. Cannell and he drops this bomb in one of the scenes: "That guy gets more ass than a hillbilly at a family reunion."

I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to have an accident. Which kind of reminded me of another hillbilly jab: He has less teeth than a 50 year hillbilly or was it a hillbilly boxer? Can't remember, either one is funny. It is interesting to contemplate (regarding the teeth, that is. The other we'll leave alone.) that is it more (to my mind) a condemnation of the health/dental/government services/benefits for hillbillies than of the "people" themselves. How sad.

Sad, but true observation t_b. Unfortunately, the commentary you refer to has been about for a time-but, it is improving .... clearly, not as fast that one would hope in a productive, and progressive nation should and could accomplish with balance, and fortitude. Do believe it is more than possible to have your cake, and teeth to eat it with too in today's age!

I agree 100% with you. A lot of country folks know how to work very hard without bitching about it, will get on it without a lot of gabbing and don't feel like they've done you a favour once their finished. I admire that a great deal.
