What a cutie. Very nice Ray. A great friend of mines brother has two Chocolate Labs, an older one, who is almost completely deaf and a younger one called Sticks. Oddly, I've never heard either one of them bark. I can figure out the older one not barking but the younger one? No vocalization that I've heard whatsoever.
They are beautiful dogs though. Is it just my impression but are they taller at the shoulder and more narrow chested than the Black Lab?
We're new to the Lab breed, we had a Golden Retriever for 16 years. Took five years for us to make the commitment to get another dog. Her Mom is as you described Bart, she doesn't have that stocky build of most of the Labs that I've seen. We're crazy about Samantha already.
Looks like The_Burner... only cuter.

LOL@ Coz. Please Mike, you're an expert at the brutally obvious.
Everything is cuter than me, fool.

The company I work for had a lunch meeting yesterday and when I brought up the issue of Chocolate Labs, two people informed me that they knew of the breed and that they: 1.) Grew taller and were narrower than the regular Black Labs and that they 2.) Didn't bark very much. Both could be considered a positive.

Good choice Ray!

Very nice dogs-excellent disposition, and good with family-even when terrorized by little ones on occasion.
