Hmmm ... apparently, if the Feds backed off, it was not that critical ... was it?

I'm sorry. After 9-11, the people and congress demanded the president do something to prevent it from happening again. There have been no attacks on our soil since then. Now the ACLU (the most useless organization ever contrived) and others (mostly far left liberals) are screaming that thier civil liberties are being trounced on. Sorry fellas, can't have it both ways. Excuse me, but do you expect me to believe the government can possibly eaves drop on the cell phone convos, email traffic, and internet access for 300+ million people? As good as our intelligence agencies are, that is impossible, even with today's technology. They use certiain screening factors to mark certain communications as "of interest", which amounts to less than .002%. Imagine that, Bubba is safe in his email to norma-jean about the cow that is about to give birth.

Carnivore and Echelon are the known "snoop sisters". If I gave enough of a poop, I would spend the mental energy being paranoid about what else is out there that we don't know about, however I'll leave that to the hardcore paranoids. cocky.gif

First off, all terrorists, foreign or domestic that do harm to our country, or our allies should be offed! Secondly, the agencies of today need to crack open a few books from the past, e.g., the OSS is a good father to revisit, and this time learn from. Believe most groups that prevent effective work by our security agencies are not very bright indeed-what does this say about these agencies-Duh! Support the welfare of our citizens, and troops-would suggest that people just do their jobs, protect our nation, and our allies and quit bitching, and slobbering all over the place. Just do what is requied-no more, no less for starters.

Believe me, I'm all for domestic security, getting good intelligence, be it humint, elint or whatever the source; in a timely fashion and to the appropriate agencies to prevent the shitheads from fecking with all free democratic countries. What I don't is the steady encroachment and erosion of our civil liberties/freedoms just because some "waves" the boogeyman called terrorism. Their has to be a reasonable middle ground wherein are rights are not abbrogated on the basis of a future (and possibly non event) terrorist activity. The logic shouldn't be "if you give us "Z" we can prevent X, but if you don't give us "Z", we can't possibly prevent X. That's just extortion, bribery and emotional manipulation. Also, forget the shit about "if you don't give us this, you must be unpatriotic." What a load of crap.

The problem Bart, is that we have these islamic extremeist among us. YES, I used a small "i" in islamic. People keep saying it's a religion of peace, but then why do they murder so many people in the name of islam? They indoctrinate their children to hate the ways of the western civilization. They want sharia law, where women have no rights and children are educated for jihad. The cartoons by Denmark of Muhammad that sparked an outcry are a clue to the schooling of these children get. The Quran says that they cannot make an image of muhammad to worship (peganism), but nothing about anyother imigeas. The UK and other europeon nations will soon be out numbered. When will we learn?

If I offended any muslims here.... TUFF!!!! This is how it is and you good guys have to set this straight!!!!
