Microsoft’s Internet Explorer development team has warned users updating to Windows XP Service Pack 3 that they won't be able to downgrade from IE7 to the older IE6 without uninstalling the service pack.

"If you choose to install XP SP3, Internet Explorer 7 will remain on your system after the install is complete," said Jane Maliouta, an IE program manager, in the blog entry. "Your preferences will be retained. However, you will no longer be able to uninstall IE7. If you go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, the Remove option will be grayed out."

Nice heads-up, thanks! icon_smile.gif

Why would anyone want to go back to IE6? It blows and they stopped doing updates for it.

I agree with Bull. Say goodbye to IE 6 and move on. icon_biggrin.gif

Better yet, use Firefox or Opera. fragend013.gif

Do have both Firefox and Opera and use on occasion, in addition to IE 6 .... apparently, seem to understand that at a minimun O/S XP is needed to run IE 7 ... still use 2000 pro for now, although have XP (tested in the past-beta copy), and Red Hat on system too. Will change when new system is released, and proves out a bit. icon_smile.gif

I chose sometime ago not to let Windows Update install IE7. When I installed SP3, it did not install IE7 which is cool.
