I have an HP NC6000 laptop that has a battery issue. The laptop won't work unless it's plugged in. As a matter of fact...the laptop won't even recognize that there is a battery there at all (in XP and in Bios).

I have gotten a 2nd battery that supposedly works and still the same thing. I updated the bios to the most recent and pulled and reseated each of the batteries. Also, if the cord is not plugged in all the time, the laptop forgets the date and time.

Any ideas? help.gif

sounds like the MB battery mate

Will that also affect the fact that it can't detect the battery?

Gonna check that now.

Thanks pap.

Pappy hit the nail on the head. CrO2 battery for the BIOS.

Holy shit!!! Is that a monster to get to!!!

I may just have to keep the damn thing plugged in 24/7. That bites ass.

Hope this helps a bit-seems they have a lot of laptop issues, and procedures-perhaps, some suggestions from the factory? Good luck.

OK here is where I share my luck with Coz!!!

I have the following...

HP NC6000 - won't detect battery and needs the system battery, so has to be plugged in all the time
Toshiba M55-5135 - mb problem of unknown origin, but good power
HP ZE4115 - bad battery, bad power connector, so has to be plugged in all the time and have to play with the wire to get it on.

Do you think I could get one to work out of the bunch?!?!

Anybody wanna trade a working laptop for 3? naughty.gif

As far as your other Laptop not detecting your battery (the HP one) did you buy it online or from a 'retail box' store?

If the answer is the latter, did you do a re-install of XP?

If the answer to that is no, then I suggest you do one. My laptop I got off the rack at Best Buy and they have some sort of proprietary program on there that doesn't allow the batter to be detected. It took wiping out the OS and re-installing it (removing the program removed most of the 'lock outs' on the OS but not all) to get my laptop to detect the battery.

Actually coz, this was from work...it was given by one of our venders to run the glucometer tracking software and when the battery problem started, they replaced it and didn't want the old one back...so it became mine.

I did reinstall xp, all the way to SP3. The 'good' battery may not be good and I am getting a replacement this week. Hopefully the battery was bad and I can be lucky for a change?

Doubt it. icon_rolleyes.gif

Try not to be a pessimist bull or you'll end up with comp problems like Coz. icon_wink.gif Bad karma, electronically that is.
