I usually watch the environment Canada weather channel (48, here in Winnipeg.) However this morning I tuned into the alternative weather channel (Channel 70.) Seems that Manitoba has had two tornadoes in the last seven days. One touched down south and east of Winnipeg near Steinbach (about 25 miles S.E. of Winnipeg) for about 8 minutes yesterday. There was another one earlier in the week which, I believe, also touched down. Not sure where but they said so on the detailed weather channel # 70, called The Weather Network.

What I'm wondering is if anyone else has had any tornado activity near them. This year, last year, any time.

We had two in North West Ohio the other day. About a 100 miles away from where I live. We didn't catch any bad weather at all, it went above and below us.

The can stay away from us this year. We had one last year and that is plenty!!!

We've only had one so far this year, which is rare. Usually they're not too close to my actual house...I think it was five years ago or so the last time I heard one and could see the damage happening from the dining room windows. We used to get a LOT more when I was a kid, rarely a week would go by during the season without the sirens going off. Now it's become an event when it happens.

most of ours here in tampa are waterspouts in the summer. 3-4 land ones in summer.

Pappy, you must get more hurricanes than Tornadoes.

I've seen 3 waterspouts on Lake Erie, pretty impressive looking.

Have seen a few wind spouts in the desert, they called those "Wind Devils" small guys, 2/4 foot diameters, very strange looking. There have been a few about here, fortunately, have never seen one, nor was there any warning before the fact!
