Mars had an atmosphere that is 95% CO2. Why is it so cold there when our CO2 content is .038%. Maybe solar output has more of an impact than CO2?
Maybe it's because Mars is further from the Sun?
I'm not sayin'....
I'm just sayin'.
But I do agree that Global Warming, in the capacity and methods it's being pushed on us, is indeed a farce. I think we need more than just 150-ish years of 'gathered so-called evidence' to definitively say, "We're in trouble
because of Global Warming. I believe we are going through some changes in the climate, albeit with undesireable side-effects. However, there's nothing we can do as a quick-fix... we have to ride this out. We're only passengers on this rock as it hurtles through space, after all.
Nothing wrong with smaller cars... especially not when they're getting
several hundred percent better fuel mileage than our road monsters. Although having more reasonable gas prices would have me back in the Ram instead of the Honda much more frequently - my hips are starting to suffer from getting in and out of that overgrown skateboard.
We should drill the crap out of our oil now (both on land AND offshore) before other countries come in using loopholes in the law and do it for their benefit before we can. While we're drilling for foreign oil-independence, we can continue to develop new replacement energy sources. By the time we need to start worrying about oil problems again, we should have something viable (and non-petroleum-based) ready to implement. Not to mention after all the time with the US not buying all their oil, OPEC will be more receptive to keeping the prices reasonable.
We should go nuclear on a wider scale, as well. I think the decades of experience running successful nuclear power plants and lack of disastrous incidents (in the US - I'm not talking about Chernobyl) speaks volumes.
Not only would the changes made toward getting away from foreign oil help save a couple bucks at the pump, it would also provide more jobs and help the economy. I even suck at math - so why can't the big heads in DC figure it out?
