Here are some tips for controlling ambient light in your home theater room.
Lighting:
If you’re getting a touch screen interface for your remote control, integrate lighting into other system functions. Program a lighting control scenario appropriate for the video display--that means no lights for front-projection, a dim backlight behind a rear-projector, or low ambient lights that do not reflect off shiny elements on a flat panel. Raid the lighting store for bulbs with a videophile-approved color temperature of 6500 degrees Kelvin.
Window Treatments:
If you want movie-worthy viewing in a room that gets natural lighting, consider blackout curtains. Thick curtains not only control light but also reduce harsh sound wave reflections.
Integrate motorized drapes into multi-purpose rooms with programmable lighting scenarios.
Acoustically sealed windows and doors will prevent outside sound from interfering with your system--and might help relations with neighbors.
