Yikes. That's one thing that I'll admit America is better at producing: idiot politicians! LOL. <Runs away cackling like a loon.> icon_wink.gif

My favourite thing is that I originally heard this attributed to your hero, John McCain. icon_biggrin.gif

(still not an Obama supporter, just annoyed by political slander)

you're not actually going to propose Snopes as a source to discredit this with, are you?

Snopes has been proven to be wrong several times.
bull
Typical...when you got nothing else, make something up.

I also got that as an email where it was attributed to McCain.

Attack the politics, not the man. I more than likely not gonna vote for Obama, but the attacks from the right are starting to get pathetic.

If we had a thread of stupid things that Bush (or damn near any politician) said...it would never end.
burntkat
I have no problem attacking the man- after all, he's already attacked me and mine.

"Cling to their guns and constitution"
"typical white person"

just two of the things he's said.

We sure we want that sort of person running the show? I think not. But the Leftists are so anxious for a Dem, they'll vote for him anyway.

Dragonfly
At least there would be intellectual consistency in the White House with Obama-obviously, worse problems! BTW, didn't the Berlin Wall fall on most of the Lefties? Those Lefties in the United States at present, seem to be leftovers, i.e., that are more than disenchanted, disturbed emotionally, and just mentally upside down? help.gif thumbdown.gif hysterical.gif hysterical.gif hysterical.gif hysterical.gif
bull
That's true. Let's just keep things the way they are, everything is going great.

Bush should have been a sheep farmer, you are follow mindlessly. icon_rolleyes.gif
Dragonfly
bull, President Bush is a cattle rancher-never would be a sheep farmer, and does terrific barbecues-more into doing good grill work than presidential dispositions obliviously! In terms of keeping things the way they are presently, would rather see other candidates running for the CEO spot than the two that are now running .... unfortunately, not happening. So, need to be selective with the vote-even fill in when appropriate. What are you doing for the next 8 years? icon_smile.gif
bull
I am gonna support whomever wins, as long as they at least seem to be trying to do as they promised and try to move our country in the right direction. I am probably considered lower-middle class. I see all of the middle class being pinched the hardest.

I just want to have a chance to make a good life for my family. The way things are right now, I may have to leave a job I love and go to work at a place I swore I would never work due to gas prices. Who is gonna help me and others like me?

I don't see anybody or anything that is gonna be a fast fix, but damn I would love to see someone trying and fighting for the people of this country instead of fighting for corporate America and lining their own pockets.

Yes, it would be nice to consider the people, and raise their standards of living up .... not down! Am optimistic that change will occur-sooner is better, and contend that we shall be in good shape economically again. If you get an opportunity, please check out the United States census report about economic change in this country since 1832. That should give you an idea that this country does not stay at the bottom for very long-obviously, not very encouraging for those that need help now. FDR was the last President that imitated safety nets, like Social Security, and other programs that helped out during the great depression.

There is a lot of infrastructure to re-build here, roads, electrical grids, dams, oil refineries, atomic power plants, hospitals, modern school systems, city water systems, ports, re-generate a merchant marine, build new modern factories, transportation systems, rebuild a few cities that have been damaged by floods and wind, especially, a new military, e.g., Army, Navy, Marines, and Air force ... all with new equipment/training/good benefits, and so on, and on!

This should provide enough work for the next several decades none stop! Where does the money come from? We have the ability to produce, and market more, e.g., food enough to feed the entire world can be grown here-now. Along with an abundance of fuel (oil, shale, coal, natuiral gas), and energy for starters, i.e., to float these efforts now! We have the ability, but not the will, as demonstrated by leaders of both sides of the Congress, and the Senate which is quite intransigent. As many know, these ideas are not new-but indeed have been known, and discussed dealing with internal sovencey for the last 50 years!

Ok, so we are spending billions rebuilding Iraq...what about here? Isn't it time to take care of our own for a change?

That is the problem.

Snopes was the easiest link to find and I was in a hurry. As I am again now. When I have time, I'll find you some more sources you might listen to.

No problem at all bull, just use the oil they now have on tap, to pay bills, and associated costs for them, i.e., rebuilding their infrastructure. In addition, to deducting a percentage for management fees to pay for our help, and the help of our allies involved with freeing the 50, or so million people, that can now decide their own fate to some degree. BTW, their oil fields are now working, and if they need some help, both the Iraqi army, and a few of our armored divisions can add support to this initiative .... of course, that is, if anything can get past the unified Congress and Senate that apparently have been quite intransigent for the last several decades.

The problem really seems to be: How do you get supportive, and wise leaders-maybe, if both Congress, and the Senate, stay out of the sun during the hottest time of day, ware hats, and do a lot of cool, clear, water for starters? icon_smile.gif
bull
But we are getting nothing in return. We are just paying them more for the oil.

It is like going to the drive-thru. Never go to the drive-thru (or the middle east). They fuck you at the drive-thru.

Hmmm ... what about not paying them, and have them pay us then-with again, their oil?
In terms of the drive-thru, just evict them, or better, make hamburgers out of them for re-sale, and run it yourself, i.e., if into (pork protein) fast foods! help.gif

Df...It is that kind of thinking that is severely lacking in Washington.

I echo tb!!! thumbup1.gif

Hmmm .... thanks bull. But, if that were the case even in one's wildest nightmare stage, I can be found in the Canadian Northern Woods, where an average day with wind chill is about 60/80 below zero, with Polar bears that are into eating people for fun! When in town, just ask Nanuke where I can be found, you will need him, and his dog sled for the two week trek! help.gif shocking.gif

First step:term limits for ALL government offices.
These Congress and Senate types get in there- I'll give the benefit fo the doubt and say they have the best of intentions- and then get corrupted by PAC money and similar, and stay in forever.

Bk, Obviously, term limits are a very difficult issue for those that have a conflict of interest (staying in office) wish to deal with, or agree on. Below are a few thoughts, and a history of term limits if interested.

I think term limits are a great answer. This is supposed to be a government 'for the people, by the people'. It is now for the rich, by the lawyers.

We need to get back to our roots and make this country great again.

As promised:
National Review

This is the explanation by the guy who originally printed it. I tried to find the original entry in The Corner where it was published, but it's long enough ago you have to subscribe to National Review, and I can't afford it just for this.

The originaly quote was written by a man named John Gross from Quebec.
QUOTE
A few months back, just after the New Hampshire primary, a Canadian reader of mine — John Gross of Quebec — sent me an all-purpose stump speech for the 2008 campaign:

My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”

I thought this was so cute, I posted it on “The Corner.” Whereupon one of those Internetty-type things happened, and three links and a Google search later the line was being attributed not to my correspondent but to Senator Obama, and a few weeks after that I started getting emails from reporters from Florida to Oregon asking if I could recall at which campaign stop the senator in fact uttered these words. And I’d patiently write back and explain that they’re John Gross’s words, and that not even Barack would be dumb enough to say such a thing in public. Yet last week his demand in his victory speech that we “come together to remake this great nation” came awful close.
