They're mushrooms.

Are they 'special' mushrooms or just hard to find?

Ive hunted up a shroon or two in my younger days.

omg... those are SOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!' lDonyo, they are VERY hard to find and do not grow everywhere... but the are considered the BEST by many many people and are extremely EXPENSIVE to buy.... if you can even find them, I have always had to get my own.

Wow Nate just saw this I hunt Morels every spring and like Manny says they are the best. If we have a little rain there is uasually a good crop if you can beat the slugs to them. I hunt chantrells and boletes also

We have a pretty good crop here usually. I can't wait til they're up. We get a lot of out-of-staters around here so it kind of sucks, but I know of several really good spots

Hard to find, but they grow all over in central Oregon where I grew up.

Spent most of today looking while working in the woods has been dry here so nothing yet. We are -3 inches rainfall for the year already but it rained over the weekend and a little last night maby by thursday. The trout lilies in the photos are farthar along than here so it might be a little early

Yes I was totaly confused too..... I thought they were pinecones growing out of the ground too..... geeeezzzsss Pain.

Normally they just get fried and eaten with porterhouse steaks.

There are a few pics I haven't posted because we didn't get that many. Total though right now is about 1400.

This is what we got tonight, there's about 308 in the picture (a couple fell on the floor )

My neighbor is having a horrible year finding them around these parts. I should show him your pics, he would be soooo jealous!!!

These are by far the best tasting shrooms in the world.

That is not a Morel, It is what we call in Indiana a peckerhead. It is good to eat but Morel,s are the best.
