damn alot of peeps are gonna be pissed once this gets out..IMO icon_confused.gif
Coz
See!! Manny I was right, I do not have "soundstorm". The ones with the actual "soundstorm" have a "soundstorm icon" in the control panel. Like I told you before. When you said "no no no, you have soundstorm Coz, don't pay attention to the icon!"

I now require a public apology from you here in this thread. Thank you. icon_cool.gif

So out of all the Nforce boards only these below have the Nvidia Soundstorm onboard:

ABIT NF7-S
MSI K7N2G-ILSR with S-Bracket
Shuttle SN41G2 small form-factor PC

I wonder if many knew this when they bought an Nforce 2.

Screwed again "eh" Coz? icon_cry.gif

As usual Pappy, as usual! icon_redface.gif

When the Asus A7N8X Deluxe was first released it was marketed as having SoundStorm. Nvidia's initial press release regarding SoundStorm certified motherboards included the Asus A7N8X Deluxe and did not include the Shuttle SFF PC.

Nvidia has now changed and/or clarified the requirements for SoundStorm certification and the Asus A7N8X Deluxe no longer qualifies. Asus has not changed their marketing and still sells the A7N8X Deluxe as having SoundStorm, as seen on the web page:

http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socketa/a7...-d/overview.htm

Therefore, Coz, Manny was right at the time he made his assertion, Nvidia has just changed the rules of the game on him and all of us that have purchased the A7N8X Deluxe.
Coz
ok, time to demand a refund then if I can't get an apology icon_smile.gif

I would too.... flex yer... errr... muscles... crooked sons of bitches
Mandark
thanks lDonyo, Yes Indeed ASUS did MIS-MARKET the product and I would DEMAND a refund!!

heck, my nForce1 board from MSI has SoundStorm and the SoundStorm Icon shows up in my control panel... that is funny because it is supposed to show up only in nf2 boards but when I installed the nvid 2.03 drivers, it showed up! HAAHA.. but, I do have all that discrete hardware specified... all the front rear analog I/O and the S/PDIF (Coax AND optical on my riser card. a cable attaches from the mobo to that riser so the MCP-T sends all the DD 5.1 stuff in it.

damnit CoZ, you STILL got KICK ASS DD 5.1 audio!!!! AND the MCP-t with THREE dedicated hardware DSP's.

but anyway...
SORRY CoZ. I am a shit-hole and should be killed where I stand...
Coz
Relax Manny, I was just busting your chops. icon_redface.gif

Ok, so now what do us disgruntled Asus owners do to try and get out money back from Asus?

Think it's possible?
Jason
If you were misled then send it back.
Mandark
I would start a class action suit... that is FALSE advertising and ASUS STILL claims SoundStorm certification.

From what I saw over at [H]ard|OCP, the only part Asus is lacking is the Dolby certification to be fully SoundStorm certified (again). They may or may not be in the process of doing just that. I sent an email to their tech support asking about this, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for a reply.
ldonyo
I received a reply from Asus in regard to my email about SoundStorm. Here's what they have to say:

QUOTE
asus a7n8x deluxe board do have the DOLBY function, Dolby sent us a 'technology transfer' license agreement, but what asus
need is a 'trademark' license agreement. We're still waiting for Dolbe lab to send the correct version agreement to sign.
sorry for any your inconvenience.
Mandark
good for you pappy, I will continue to recommend the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe. It is a WONDERFUL board and I really wish I had one myself. icon_lol.gif :!:

That board has everything I would want, and then some extras they threw in too. I would not recommend VIA at this time.

That is great news ldonyo! Thanks for taking the time to write to them!
