Coz
Well my friend who is at a 'undisclosed location' has sent me some more pictures to share with you all. Odd that he has Email access, but I am not complaining.
Since I first got into Airplanes, this one has been my all time favorite. It's the A-10 Warthog, "tank buster"! I could go into the specs here but I will let the pics speak for themselves. Suffice to say, this plane was designed to take one helluva beating and return to the Air field in one piece. The cockpit glass is bulletproof surrounded by titanium armor to protect the critical flight systems. From some of the pilots I spoke to in my AF career, the cannon fires Uranium depleted bullets and fires so fast, it almost causes the plane to stall out.
Anyway, without further adieu, here are the pics:

It looks like it may have been one unlucky bullet away from NOT completing its mission! icon_eek.gif All's well that ends well, though, right?

There's a story in last month's 'Airman' magazine about the pilot and shows a picture of her (yes, her) with the shot-up tail. Pretty interesting read.
