Ha, wish you fellows were right, but here's the problem. The greedy f'ers wouldn't be able to filter the bailout thru their hands first.

Do like pappy's plan! thumbup1.gif A million would more than do it for me. What about another Trillion for energy-solar roofs for that house that is now paid off, plus big Picken's windmills, atomic plants, off shore drilling, natural gas, coal, Hydrogen, along with perhaps convicts doing electric, by pumping generators from stationary bikes too? Another trillion for the military so they can re-build-expand, and do our Merchant Marine, do roads and bridges to our bases, and protect those bases with dams, and sea walls along the Mississippi, and coasts of the United States-some of pappy's suggestion would go a long way to repair towns and cities that were damaged or destroyed by floods and wind in many areas of the country too. In addition, medical hospitals that could care for our troops, and that could be used for civilian usage when not used by those troops. Refinement of schools, so that those going into the service can read, and write over their ability to play make believe video games-not everbody can be a tank driver, education would seem to be a most needed effort! A plan that would keep those on retirement integrated in society, with meaningful work if they wished, so that their years of experience would not be lost vegetating in an out of sight retirement warehouse. Why waste an asset-wisdom and experience are certainly difficult to come by, and should be passed on, not tossed out. Suspect that some of these additional trillions would produce enough work for the next few centuries, and resolve our balance of trade deficits. Still, China makes good gym shoes that could even be transported by our new Merchant Marine! icon_smile.gif

Sure they could! If it went to individuals rather than corporations, it would be taxed to hell and back! And then they could use some of the taxes we pay on it to make sure the CEOs get their big fat bonus checks when they're fired for incompetence.

Problem: you do realize that is a whole lot more than 700 billion, right?
pappy177
301,139,947 people , now remove some 60% because they are kids or are renters

I don't even have any idea what a million times a million is icon_smile.gif

I do know, though, that if you did this, there'd be an awful lot of folks running around with 100,000 dollar cars and such- the money would be wasted.

OK, here's my take on the suggestion above:

It's been established that the 700billion bailout was on the order of $4,250 per citizen.

Given that 4250 goes into 1 million (spins the gears) approximately 235 times....

the premise given in this thread comes out to something like 164 TRILLION dollars.

The GDP of the US is 13 trillion, annually.

Are we beginning to see the problem, yet?

OK, finally found out what a million times a million is. A trillion.

301 million and change, times a million each, equals 301 TRILLION dollars.

This is not getting any better.

Noone is going to give you a million dollars, or a significant portion thereof.

also, if by some wildarse chance it was to occur, guarantee prices would go up, across the board. WAY up.

You want to pay $100 for that big mac?
