damm BART its BLACK

Jayzus Christo, I'm supposed to read that hodge podge on the side of the fan or even think to look there, ya ninny? icon_wink.gif Sorry, even blowed up real good I couldn't read it properly. I'm guessing ultra.

LOL. Good call, pappy. I kinda figured out the colour, thanks all the same. cocky.gif icon_wink.gif

the_burner
I kinda figured it said ULTRA but stylized/scripted. icon_smile.gif
terabyte
Just built this yesterday:

Asus M3A78 motherboard
AMD Phenom X4 9950
Crucial 4 GB DDR2
Seagate 1 TB SATA HDD
MSI Nvidia 9800GT 512MB
Lite-On 20X SATA DVD burner
Antec 500W PSU
Sound Blaster Audigy

XP only sees 3GB but I was aware of that limitation. Eventually I will upgrade to Vista 64-bit and add another 4GB to max it out at 8.

Nice rig and I'm probably telling you something you already know but you can get Xp Pro 64bit which might be less of a resource hog than Vista 64bit. You may want Vista just to play with it. I understand that. icon_smile.gif Very nice, D. icon_biggrin.gif
<Hope you have a great heatsink/fan for the Phenom. cocky.gif>
AceHigh
Actually, the stock heatsink and fan works quite well. Copper heatpipes. (that's what's in my machine). Never gets above 34C under full load.
the_burner
I stand corrected. Thank-you, Ron. icon_smile.gif
AceHigh
No need to stand corrected, it's just that AMD has done a damn fine job of providing a decent stock heatsink.
the_burner
No, I was wrong. I had misread his chip or mistaken it for another in my mind. My mistake, I'll take the hit. icon_smile.gif I do/did know that they were running a little warmer than the Intel chips, for the most part. Now if this is the latest iteration I pretty sure that they have reduced the heat output from the cpu.
BigO
Ok...you were wrong....not like it was the first time..lol

Try to cool a 6400 X2 with the stock cooler. I will be heating the upstairs room with this.

Nice rig Ace.

Biggie, biggie, biggie. You want in on this? Silly boy. cocky.gif icon_wink.gif

I'm up a little more

Dell Inspiron 531
AMD Athlon X2 5000+ (originally 3800+)
3GB PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM (next to be upgraded, up to 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2)
160GB 7200 RPM harddrive (after video card to be upgraded to a 300GB Velociraptor)
GeForce 8800GT (upgrading to GTX 280 after the RAM)
SATA DVD burner (no lightscribe, upgrading to a blu-ray/HD-DVD drive with the RAM)
GIGABYTE ODIN GT 550 watt Power supply (greatest PSU I've ever owned! Modular, tweakable voltages, fan controller, temp probes, volt/amp monitors)

A thing to note: this PC has only ever used 209 watts max (playing FarCry 2), the 8800 has only used 7.8A max. Going to volt mod the 8800 so I can get a bit more life out of it before I upgrade (BIOS mod most likely).

Speaking of the 8800, has anyone figured out if you can unlock the 16 shaders missing between the Gt and GTS 512? They arent laser cut, (I'm sure you all know the pencil mod to get around this)
AceHigh
Damn Mew, you came out of hibernation? icon_smile.gif
