General Powell noted that he supports Senator Obama today for President of the United States. General Powell was under then president President Bush I, when he was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gulf war. General Powell indicated he studied both contenders that are now running for president, and feels confident about his decision of what would be be best for America. General Powell when comparing Senator Obama's many deeds and accomplishments, did not note unfortunately, a current disturbing difference between, for example, Baghdad/Iraq and Chicago, Illinois in his long rationale list. Especially, since doing a better job, and who best would serve as President of the United States, was of primary importance in General Powell's decision making process, i.e., the accomplishments of the current political contenders are most important factors when doing, and reaching any evaluation decision for voters. shocking.gif

The comparisons below may be of interest. Sources: FBl, US Census , and US Dept. of State:

Pull out of Iraq ?
Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago?
Body count:
In the last six months:
292 killed (murdered) in Chicago;
221 killed in Iraq.
Chicago.... Who Runs it:

Senators: Barack Obama & Dick Durbin
Rep: Jesse Jackson Jr.,
Illinois Gov: Rod Blogojevich,
Illinois House leader Mike Madigan,
Illinois Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike),
Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)
.....our leadership in Illinois.....all elected Democrats.
Is there a combat zone in Chicago? Of course, and politicians are blaming each other! Can't blame Republicans; Why not? They're aren't any!

State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.
Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.

This is the political culture that Senator Obama comes from in Illinois. and he's off to repair Washington politics for us?
Good luck indeed! thumbup1.gif

Correction:

Schwarzkopf was the top commander of troops. Not Powell.

Thanks bk, will correct text above. icon_smile.gif

General Schwarzkopf, the commander of Western forces in the war, Gen. Colin L. Powell, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Google reference.

Let is also be known that numbers can be made to look like anything you want them to...

Chicago is #20 in murder rate, behind such cities as Detroit, Baltimore, New Orleans, Oakland, Atlanta, Miami, Houston and of course Washington, D.C.

For the record, the worst school district in America is also Washington, D.C.

Also, here in IL, our last Republican Governor is where?? In federal prison in Terra Haute, IN. One George Ryan.

Our current governor is a joke and Chicago completely trashes the rest of the state. I would vote to see them become their own state!!!

I think Rush Limbaugh said it best:
QUOTE
"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race," Limbaugh wrote in an e-mail. "OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."

Now - I'm not a huge Rush Limbaugh fan (too much of a pompous, arrogant windbag for me), but he gets a few off now and then that make you think about things.

And, I can't honestly say I blame Powell for abandoning the party for this - the GOP (Bush Administration, actually) kinda had their way with him bent over a table a few years ago.

But at least be honest about. There's an actual chance to elect the first black president in history. Being a black man himself, I wouldn't begrudge him for wanting to see history being made. But please - just be honest about it.

I could care less if it's a black man, yellow man, brown man, white man, as long as they are American. None of this "African-American" , hispanic, etc. shit. You are American or not, and sure as hell won't vote for a socialist.
Dragonfly
Do think his actions demonstrate a total lack of class! Especially, when General Powell has a colleague, and friend for many years, and trades him off for for someone that is both intellectually and morally questionable/insolvent-not a very bright command decision indeed. thumbdown.gif

I WILL NOT vote for Obama , i am uncomfortable with McCain but it is the lesser of two evils.

Do second that pappy! thumbup1.gif
