Drinking water: desalination facts and practice. Nice site that lists many projects that are now just starting construction, or have been in operation for many years. Plant operations may find a solution in new technologies with solar, atomic, or basic reformulated petroleum fuels, as an energy source for the conversion facility.

I'm surprised that the U.S. is number 3 on that list. Pretty shocked, actually. icon_eek.gif

California is one of the Stales that needs extra water! For desalination, an enormous amount of power is needed-and environmental concerns have not been satisfied apparently-see article. The problem is that California can take themselves out of their economic quandary, that now seems so dire and perplexing by drilling for oil, and gas-this would pay for the states current, and projected $27.5 billion-in a few years, or economic "bankruptcy" and provide both fuel and energy for the people of the state.

Noticed that Pickens last night on Fox network, indicated that he had to stop his wind turbine efforts after putting in $58 billion dollars, simply because he can not get any financing from the state, or fed help. He also indicated that oil in a year would be back up to $100 a barrel-plus. Now apparently, politicos feel that Americans will not force the issue for energy independence at this time, because prices have come down in some cases to 50 percent less than they were at the high.

Yes, t_b California needs water, either from a pipeline from Washington state, or Canada-perhaps, may re-consider being once again self reliant, and produce the stuff!. Dragging feet, and noting that all this, or that effort does not, for what ever excuse, or so work, only retards efforts at desalination. Yet, this behavior exemplifies the Congress and the Senate's notion that indeed, they do not/or wish to work, and be expeditious about it! At least, many contend that put these people in office. help.gif
