Hey guys, I am leaving for Basic Training today. I will be absent for approx 9 weeks...then I should be able to do a log-on or somthing at least...
I have been honored by the people, that have helped me with problems, and the people who I tried to help but caused more problems...
I hope all you have a safe and happy time while I'm gone. But just remember...
I'll be back with stories to tell...

Peap thanks for all your efforts here-been fun. Have a good one in the service, and take advantage of all the learning, and school experiences they will provide for you. Don't be a stranger, and return as you can-good luck and fortune. Df.

The biggest piece of advice I can offer: use discretion when volunteering, but don't be afraid to bloom where you're planted.
EVen if you get tagged to clean toilets, be the best damn toilet cleaner they've ever seen. It'll pay dividends down the road.
Good luck and come back soon.

Good advice E. My father, who was in the Air Force, suggested that no matter how "irrelevant" seeming the job, there are always skills there worth learning and if not, then your ability to work thru it is a skill well learned. That and patience. Also, if you do really well at a crappy job, someone will notice and at the very least respect your effort in a bad situation. If a person keeps an open mind, skills learned at crappy jobs can be transportable forward to better jobs. You can also polish your social skills wrt cooperation and networking. And maybe even make life long friends.
