Here she is connected to my DSL and the Dell below is has now been switched over from a linux box to a Windows 2000 Server....

Gack what a Horrid Hateful OS to do any internet server type stuff in... How does one do IPTables/IPChains stuff in it? icon_lol.gif

Only one issue with the router, you can't manually edit the router's MAC address, You can use factory or clone from an IP on your local net. The ISP's 10mb card is in the closet as all was converted to 100mb here long ago...

Minor problem... I told my card in XP to use the MAC address required and cloned from it instead... I sent a Tech Support message to NetGear that this is a feature that should be added to the menu, as all the other routers support it (ie. Linksys, DLink...) we'll see what happens. icon_biggrin.gif

So again from me here is a BIG THANKS!!!!

Hope you had on your "Peril Sensitive Sunglasses" icon_lol.gif icon_cool.gif icon_lol.gif

Didn't have any computers in school biggy...

Much Electronics but no CPU's, lot's of capacitor's gave up there life for a taste as AC better than firecrackers and more stink! icon_lol.gif

Wired up under peoples chairs icon_twisted.gif or tossed to them full of high voltage DC. "Here Catch" icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif

My first exposure to computers was hanging down at the local Radio Scrap pissin' round with the TRS80's in '77...

Did that in automotive class with distributor capacitor's...splice the wire...then one crank on first plug on engine...throw them at someone..ZAP...funny as hell icon_lol.gif
pappysbro
Man that brings back memories we did the same thing in the BT days thats before transistors for you youngsters. I took class with a guy named Chester Larwa, one day he stuck a cap into the wall socket to shock an unsuspecting freshman and the capacitor went off like a hand gernade was the funniest thing i remember about school. Chester sitting there with his hand all black and the instructor lecturing him about microfarads and peak voltage. Another time we fired up a surplus aircraft radar unit that had been donated to the school and knocked down the local international airport (Baltimore) radar. The feds paid the school a visit and confiscated all the stuff. The principal told us we were all going to jail but nothing ever came of it. sometimes i wonder how i ever graduated
pappy177
well i guess we all had a turn at this,I wired a fairbanks moris mag to the bench.that got me suspended.

We had one toliet in the corner boys room..... throw in an M80 and it would blow water out all the toliets in both girls bathrooms. I can still hear the screams to this day..... it was damn near sex. icon_biggrin.gif
pappy177
Its nice Troll that someone here knows something! Kids today are lost.
Troll
Thanks Pappy!

As they always say with age comes experience... Todays youth have it too easy, you need to know anything, just look it up on the internet... half of em don't know what a library is or how to find a book in one... icon_lol.gif

The elders are where the real infomation is though, I used to love sitting out with my grandfather in his shop learning woodworking skills.

Or with some of the Old Boys from lodge (I.O.O.F / A.F & A.M.) down at the garage on a saturday tearing down a motor or a transmission or putting new plumbing / electrical in one of the lodges.

I had a desire to know how things worked when I was younger, had to tear stuff apart and put it back together...

But "stuff" has evolved today more than ever, I can remember fixing Hercules Video cards by changing ram, ttl's etc... because that was cheaper than replacing the video card, the old days of $300 Monochrome Graphics Cards... and you don't want to know how many Commodore 64's I've changed parts on. icon_lol.gif

Nobody fixes things anymore, just not feasible... $6 outa Taiwan gets you a new one... Take my old Heathkit DX-60 or HG-10 to get fixed somewhere and they all just scratch thier heads, "what the hell are them glass things" icon_eek.gif

Used to have a lot of fun with CBer's with this baby...
"Skipland Skipland Skipland... Callin cool country Canada, y'all out there" :P as I'd adjust the power and frequency to fluctuate icon_lol.gif You'd be amazed how many thought they were talking to Alabama from thier 3 watt car unit... icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

AHHHhhhh....down mermory lane icon_twisted.gif

yeah, I used to tear motors and transmissions apart with my older brothers. we had tons of fun and we always enjoyed "testing" them after they were completed.

My brother joe built a big block chevy that dyno'ed at about 700 hp. yeah, that bitch would smack your ass back in the seat and PIN you there. You could do doughnuts by pressing the accelrator down about a quarter of an inch in a dry parking lot... damn, I never got to drive that one.... wonder why?

oh yeah, it was a '71 chevy Impala.... damn i miss that car... had a FTN sticker on the back for Fuck the Navy.. he hated the Navy
Troll
Ya gotta like cars that pin you to the seat! icon_lol.gif

I'd have lost my permit with one of those... Had my Berlinetta up to 130 Mph one day... Fast enough for me... Cheap tires and all icon_eek.gif

I have a 69 Firebird. I bought it off my uncle that used to live in California. He bought it from someone that lives in Hesperia CA. I got it 5 years ago and it was solid as hell and rust free with a fresh paintjob icon_cool.gif It had a 327 Chevy in it when I got it (67, small journal junk untouched, original bore, and very tired).

I traded an aluminum fishing boat I had (I paid $400 for the boat and trailer) for a 400 Chevy block and crank (unbored). I was gonna build a 383 with the 400 crank and a 4 bolt 350 block I have but decided to build the 400 itself instead (it ended up being a 406-407, .030 over).

I could go on for quite a while but I'll make it short and say that the focker has some power. icon_biggrin.gif I won a trophy in street class at Kaleva Speedway with it. icon_biggrin.gif

Troll, I almost forgot, I was going to tell you about the "station" I had set up here at one time (CB).

I still own a Tram D-201A (tubes) and a Cobra Cam 89 (tubes, I'm sure you probably know all this though) but I sold the rest of it.

I mainly used a Ranger 2950 with either my old base (tube) 500 watt linear (deak key 500) or my Texas Star Sweet 16 (that thing was nasty :P icon_lol.gif ), OR my Tennessee Walker (a homemade base amp with 2 4CX350A's, it'd deakey 1000 watts, my favorite btw) with a Maco Shooting Star (4 element horizontal and vertical beam). Needless to say I talked all over with that rig. I even had some of the "people" on channel 6 (if you know CB's at all you know who hangs out on channel 6 when there's skip icon_lol.gif) convinced I was one of them and went by Supertransmitter. It was some of the best times I've ever had when I had all that going. Too bad I got rid of most of it

Oh well, trust me when I say I had PLENTY of fun with all that icon_lol.gif

icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif I own a computer LOL... english please LOL
Troll
That was some fine gear there Nathan...

I always wanted the Cobra with the Frequency counter in it but never could justifiy the money, but damn it looked fine!

Where I worked he used to sell Browning... I bought a Sabre off of him, would have loved to have gotten one of the Golden Eagle bases... icon_biggrin.gif
Still love a D104 mic... click ping... Alas he wouldn't sell, had the big collection in the basement all types and kinds, even early Hailcraft bases with crystal sockets, change channel... change cyrstal... icon_eek.gif

I used to get a kick out of him selling radio's, he had a Hooker 100 watt under the bench and a Moonraker 6 on a 40' tower on the roof. People would want to buy a radio and he'd hook it up on the bench, asked them if they had any friends with CB's and where they lived, rotated the antenna towards that locatation and let them call for thier friends. They were all amazed...

Damn fine radio's would get clear across Toronto... icon_twisted.gif icon_lol.gif icon_twisted.gif

I never spoke to any of the "SuperBowl" peeps on air... As I wasn't into CB thaaaat much lot's o' money and I was just a kid... icon_lol.gif

The old boss also had a Yaesu FT410b there which I used to tinker on 2 metre a little bit, used the local clubs patch a few times... icon_lol.gif

Quite the days, always wanted to get an HAM ticket, but never had a desire to learn morse... And living in an apartment one could never put up an Antenna anywhere...

The old boss when he closed the shop down told me I could have the Moonraker off the roof if I wanted it...
Got half way up the tower and just couldn't do it icon_cry.gif 20' to the roof, (two storey strip mall type store) with a 40' skinny tower up to the antenna...
which also weighed a ton...
pappy177
memories , I rem an old gal that had a Browning,,her trademark was keying it twice , ping, ping and everyone knew it was her. We had to buy a permit , er number to use in those days. icon_biggrin.gif
