Someone on a fast connection needs to set their search results number to unlimited and just search for porn and see how many results you come up with.

Just use BulletproofSoft's Spyware removal tool and see it for yourself. They blow and most of the time, you can't get what you really want.

So LL, If you don't care about it, don't steal it's copyright. Until the law's change, you are operating outside of them, worldwide, not just USA.
So, go do your deeds... you will anyway... and make the price if everything go up for everyone.
I paid for all the software I run, and the music I listen to. All of my warez are destroyed.... as are any backups and music I had. I only have what I paid for. The music I recenlty downloaded from kazaa (before I decided to destroy everything) was messed up... pops and skips and such. So I decided enough was enough. I don't need everything in the world. Just a good OS, Office Suite, Development platform, and few cool games... all of which I bought legal copies.
Heck, I even got rid of BlueCon and OO defrag cause I can't afford it and the windows defrag is good enough. I don't notice any difference in disk performance afterward and I don't care anymore. What I got is all I got and I choose to be happy with it.
All of the machines I have built for others got legal through me as well. They all run legal OS's and Office products. Some use Open Office because it is free.
When you do get caught (and burned), don't blame everyone else.... just yourself.
You may not be religious (I am not anymore) but the fabled 10 commandments are really good rules to live by..... you might want to read them and see for yourself.

May 4 2003, 12:39 PM
ok, here goes..
first off, i love music. the more i have of it, the better.
second, i hate the music industry intensely. reason, or should i say reasons for that, is [among other things] what you pay for a cd in stores is all in all the growth and greed of the industry, not the work of an artist. it's such a small percentage, that i feel it is insignificant. this is the main thread i feel strongly about.
now, if you love music the way i do, you stumble over about 1 new artist every day, on the radio, on the tv, or wherever you will want to hear more of. one song is usually what triggers this effect on me, and this is the way record companies work, and always have. now, not long ago we didn't have much of a choice when it came to actually owning this song we thought were so cool. and to be able to play it whenever we wanted, we had to run to the store and buy it. fair enough, for an average fan who buys maybe a record or two every other month, it's probably no big deal. for me i would have had to buy about 5-6 records a week, and to be honest, no way in hell can i afford that. THAT is what the record company wants me and you to do though, so they can make more money, and further press on new artists for the public to buy.
my point? it's not all good. a lot of the music you hear today, is fabricated by, awe and shock, the same industry that releases them. and i admit, some of it is good, but i don't want to buy a record where about 1/10th of the songs on it sucks ass. cause yeah, i BUY records, i have a collection of about 1000 records at my home, and thanks to filesharing i can preview a record before i buy it. what has changed though is that i, unlike earlier can now filter out the utter garbage that gets released in an unimaginable rate nowadays, and just buy what is good. and i'm not alone. and the fact that people have started to think this way, upsets the sharks in the industry. cause now they start realising the public has gotten smarter than them. they don't control what gets the most play-time anymore. they don't earn millions anymore, and it's all down to money, NOTHING LESS. i'm actually gonna be bold enough to state that in many cases they don't even CARE about if the music they release is good or not. they watch what catches on, and build an artist around that. as long as it bring in the cash, why the hell should they care.
ok, i could have spoken about this for days, but i have to say, if the artists themselves took action, released their own material, and yeah it's PERFECTLY possible in these technological days, i would have gladly payed for it, since i would have knowned it went straight to the artists and not into the boss of sony's new mercedes. i've probably left out some stuff both intentionally and most likely not, so i'm just gonna end now and continue my rant later. and mandark, i respect copyright, i've never fuckin said i didn't. it's a totally different thing. i'm not altering anything about music i get, games i install or whatever. i respect a persons work, which is the reason i get a copy of it in the first place.

Cydoor is the spyware.
LL, that is great if you are using it to preview the music and then buying the ones you like. Too many other people I know use it to get whatever they want.
There is no such thing as a free lunch, someone has to pay. That is why I like Apple's service. 10 dollars for the whole album or 99 cents a song... mix and match what ya want. That is NOT unreasonable... and supposedly, the artists are going to get a larger piece of pie... which, IMO, they should get at least 60%

Right from Kazaa Lite site.... ITS YOUR SPYWARE DETECTION THATS SHIT!!!!
How does Kazaa Lite get around Spyware?
It gets around it, quite simply, by not installing it!
Both the Original Kazaa and Kazaa Lite (because Kazaa Lite has to work exactly the same as the Original Kazaa) actually check for CyDoor on your machine and will not run without it. However, Kazaa Lite gets around this by installing a dummy version of CyDoor, which appears correct to Kazaa, but does not serve the adverts, meaning they don't appear in KL. It also stops random pop-ups from appearing while you're using KL. This dummy version of CyDoor is from a group called Counterexploitation (CEXX).
Ad-Aware says I have a cydoor dll in Kazaa Lite, is that spyware?
No. That file is a dummy to trick Kazaa. We would NEVER put spyware in Kazaa Lite. You should update your copy of Ad-aware. Newer version recognize more types of spyware and it knows the difference between the real and the dummy CyDoor dll.
Ad-Aware doesn't say I have the cydoor dll, is that a problem?
It's okay. Recent Ad-Aware versions can tell the difference between the real cydoor dll file and the dummy file that comes with Kazaa Lite.

Dude,
that IS a spyware file... They supposedly have dummy ones that replace it... but I do not trust them.
It is NOT a false positive, that is the DLL. The remover only goes by names... not dll content. I am going to disassemble the dll and look at the source to see if that is indeed the dummy one in KLite or not..
in any case, I wont use it but it is nice to know.

KaZaA founders to 'borrow' your PC to distribute content
Joltid, the Swedish peer-to-peer software company formed by KaZaA founder Niklas Zennstrom, has launched PeerEnabler, a secure content distribution technology that utilises users' own PCs to disseminate content for publishers.
PeerEnabler essentially uses peer-to-peer software to get content even closer to the edge of the network that content distribution services like Akamai.
But where Akamai mirrors content to servers around the globe and connects users' requests for content to their nearest servers, to improve users' access and download experience, PeerEnabler turns users' own machines into the equivalent of those local servers.
