Irish Ghost Story

This story happened a while ago in Dublin, Ireland and even though it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, its supposedly true.

John Bradford, a Dublin University student, was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a very dark night, in the midst of a heavy rain storm..

The night was rolling on and no cars went by. The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly, he saw a car slowly coming towards him and then stop. John, desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, he got into the rear passenger side of the car and closed the door, only to realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn't on!!

The car then started moving ahead slowly again. John looked at the road ahead and through the pouring rain, saw a curve approaching sign. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life.

Then, just before the car hit the curve, a hand appeared through the window and turned the wheel. John, paralysed with terror, watched as the hand repeatedly came through the window to steer, but it never touched or harmed him. Shortly thereafter, John saw the lights of a pub appear way down the road ahead of them. Gathering strength, he jumped out of the slow moving car and with fear in his heart, he ran to the pub as fast as his terrified legs could carry him.

Wet and out of breath, he burst inside and started sobbing and telling everyone about the frightening, ghostly experience he just had. An eerie silence enveloped the room when the pub's patrons realized he was really crying and....was not drunk.

Suddenly, the pub door opened again, and two other people walked in from the stormy night.

Like John, they were also soaking wet and out of breathe. Looking around, and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one yelled to the other...'Look Paddy...der's da f**kin idjit what got into our car while we was pushin it!!!!'
