That third one of yours looks a lot like an ECS K7S5A, Ace. I had one of those for a couple of days, but it didn't like my TBird C 1.0GHz (wouldn't run at 133/133), so I got rid of it. Saved myself a lot of frustration. icon_biggrin.gif

My latest mobo, it's replacing my Asus A7N8X Deluxe, which has been RMAed again:

What is it Idonyo?
oh almost for forgot.....

Soyo KT600 Plus
It was an offer I couldnt refuse icon_wink.gif so so I tried it.....goodbuy nforce.

Ooops, my bad. icon_redface.gif

It's a Biostar M7CND Pro. nForce2 400 Ultra chipset, no RAID, no SATA. Just builtin LAN, a top FSB of 250MHz, adjustable Northbridge voltage (1.6V - 1.9V in .1V increments), adjustable AGP voltage (1.5V - 1.8V in .1V increments), adjustable DRAM voltage (2.5V - 2.8V in .1V increments), and adjustable VCore (up to 2.0V in .025V increments).

Not terrible for $72, plus NewEgg will add an additional year of warranty coverage for $5. Given my history (I had to RMA the replacement for my Asus A7N8X I received in July. The IDE controller died) with the nForce2 chipset, I took the extended coverage. icon_wink.gif

How do you like the Biostar mobo? Do you recommend it? I've seen it on newegg and was tempted to buy it but I don't know anything about Biostar motherboards.

Plain old Asus A7N8X Deluxe rev 1.04. Nothing fancy about its appearance. Does the job though.

Soyo SY-K7V DRAGON Plus w/an Athlon 2100+ (Palomino)

Is that Soyo a decent board? I've been looking at the prices on them because If I can't get my XP stable in my A7V-133c I'm going to be forced to break down and buy a new board and ram. I just want some user feedback on what is going to be a good cost effective upgrade.
Mister 4x4
This is the original Soyo DRAGON+ board... it's got the KT-266 chipset on it, and a lot of on-board features. The only thing sticking out of the board right now is the video card. The on-board NIC is the standard RealTek 10/100 and has never hiccupped. The on-board USB runs fine. And the on-board sound system (SPDIF inputs/outputs and 5.1 surround capable) is a dream - big noticeable difference between that and my old SoundBlaster AWE-64 Gold.

The on-board Promise IDE/RAID controller runs like a champ as well. I've got it running in IDE mode (non-RAID) and have 3 more drives (removeable chassis) hung on it - never a problem, except when I boot down to ME to use my scanner... I just pull the drives and it's good to go.

Flat-out, the thing runs like a champ and I've never had stability problems with it. The XP 2100+ is the max CPU it'll take (after a BIOS flash, it'll take either Palomino or T-bred).

My only issues with the board are how close the caps are to the CPU socket... made installing my initial Dragon Orb a little tough. The new CoolerMaster currently on there is fine though, clearance-wise.

The newer versions of the DRAGON line are top-notch as well. But I can't imagine stability issues with the ASUS boards... especially the A7V series. I have an A7V266-C running in my server/router/gateway machine and it's absolutely bullet-proof.

Hope that helps.

This is what I'm looking at after Christmas.

An ECS K7S5A, sadly. Don't have enough money to throw around these days.
