SB Live DE 5.1 here... i got it in a bundle with Cambridge Soundworks DT2200 for about $360 or something... good deal i rekon, sound great after using onboard sound for a few months... but that wouldnt take much.

Same here dude although i got some shitty speakers (no-name) BUT ive made my own surround sound system in my room, 4x 4" Stereo Speakers and 1x 10" Stereo Speaker that will soon be acting as a Subby as soon as i get amplifier hooked up to it. So its still not fully complete

i got a c-media something a rather, cost me about $20AUD... its awesome for the money...and i am using headphones alot, so no REAL need for 5.1

sb live 5.1 and it's all ok... however i use it only in stereo mode, i don't have a dolby digital equipment :P
