Umm yeah .... is it just me or does anyone else who saw it smell the stink of a sequel written purely to cash in on the success of the first movie and not because a sequel was really needed?

It was in my opinion not very well put together. It felt very disjointed and rough to me and the plot (or lack thereof) was very weak.

It reminded me in some ways of the "new" Star Wars movies. i.e.: thrown together with no real creativity purely to get something out. Nothing new or creative here.

At least LOTR is based on books by a now dead author. More excuse to cut off and end at a down point at the end of the first one. But this is new material. They actively chose to have a totally suckass ending. With any luck word will get out and this one and #3 will not do well. I hope X2 whups its butt.

Oh well... done with my rant

constructive critisism i like icon_biggrin.gif i hear it's lost some of it's value simply by not bringin anymore of the wow-factor the first movie had. and like you said a pretty weak story. i'm gonna see it for myself, and then judge, but as of now i don't have high expectations.
Kingbob
still have to see

there has been alot of problems in the making

ill see soon enough

I saw it today and anyone who says it sucks must have not went.

I thought HOLY SHIT at the end of the movie.

The Wachowski Brothers say that Reloaded and Revolutions is one movie but split in half simply because no one would sit through a 5 hour movie except me icon_lol.gif .

It really does have a plot. It goes much much much deeper into the history of the Matrix and digs deeper into complexity. I thought it was a very good spot to end the first one as well if you have seen the movie you know the scene. It's like watching a T.V. series except you have to wait until November 7, 2003 to see the season finale.

Did you wait and watch the preview trailer for Revolutions?

You should watch the AniMatrix series http://www.intothematrix.com/ perhaps it will better assist you to appreciate such a movie.

There are also comics http://whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com/rl_c...mix_index2.html this will also allow you to go deeper into the story.

I also recommend you go and really watch it again rather than looking for the special effects, the real greatness is the story itself. Truly a work of art.

They really would have loved to have a definite ending but it isn't possible to fit so much into so little time. I really hope you change your mind.

btw I plan on seeing at least 2 more times by next weekend just so I can get a FULL comprehension of everything.

and a little hint for those that haven't seen it. listen for when the good guys are fighting and using weapons for sounds that sound like code. as they move they are rewriting code i.e. breaking the rules of The Matrix. icon_biggrin.gif

anyone else seen i yet?

"I also recommend you go and really watch it again rather than looking for the special effects, the real greatness is the story itself. Truly a work of art."

 90% of the movie is whizz bang special effects to distract the viewer from a very empty movie. Its like the writers were sitting around with writers block and just decided well since we can't come up with anything original lets fill the movie with FX so the public won't notice. Just like Lucas is doing of late. Also I have to say the effects looked terribly fake and way too obviously computer generated compared to the first movie (Anyone notice the jaggies on the glass when Trinity is falling and shooting? I thought I was looking at the PS2 version of Enter the Matrix). Once again Episode I syndrome... CGI that looks like CGI isn't good in most cases.

I'm going to see it a 2nd time since the GF wants to see it, so maybe I'll notice some things I didn't the first time. Its not a terrible movie, its just not all it should have been and not all everyone is trying to make out it is.
Ghandi
yes there are the fight scenes and the special effects but it all gradually leads to the end with The Architect (very important for people who haven't seen it yet). Not the end end but pretty close.

Some people go for special effects i really like the story. The story was created by the Wachowski brothers and I really don't think that they just put stuff in for filler.

It is really hard to try and not spoil it and have a good conversation on it icon_neutral.gif

I saw it last night, amazing!
I waited around to the end to see the trailer for the next one. I've begun to notice things now that are starting to make sense. For example I think that in the first movie, in the beginning, when Trinity and Neo and the two other charaters are in the car in the rain and Neo opens the door; Trinity says no don't go Neo, you've been down that road before you know exactly where it leads. I'm not sure about the whole tie in thing, but from the preview for Revelations it sure looks like that statement ties in.
A lot of websites and tv shows have been giving thumbs down ratings of the films. Those people must have been asleap durring the movie, both the first and second movies. IMHO unless you've seen both, then you are going to think the second one sucks. See both, then things will make sense.

...another satisfied Free Minded person icon_biggrin.gif

Perhaps the first movie didn't make a lot of people think, they just thought it was alot of good action and fx. so they think that the sequel must also have to have alot of good action and fx for it to be good.

the point of the movie was to continue the story and the story is what really counts and that is why there isn't as much as most people wanted. i thought there was a good bit and it was good. yea you know the CG is fake because 1) you are looking for it 2)it isn't quite perfect yet in the CG area.

this is your movie if you like to think, open minded, and are a fan of the first one

I saw it last Thursday and I have to agree with the G-man on this one. The first one was a cool action flick, but the second one brings a whole lot of background to the whole story, including a lot of answers to the 'Why?' questions raised by the first film. I'm looking forward to the resolution that the third film will bring. November is not too long to wait for. icon_biggrin.gif

didn't like the first one, and have no desire to see the second one... just didn't click with me and I usually like every film I see.

Can we say "baa-aaaa-aaah"?

Heh heh Titanic made lots of cash and shattered records too. Earnings don't make for a good movie in every case. Hype and advertising make the difference.

I will say the movie was better the 2nd time I saw it. I give it 3 out of 5. Its good but not great.
