it was just gamming so its bnc which was fine at the time

now im looking at new network totaly
got network cards in all computers
just woundering what the best way of doing this will be
best equipment etc
will be having 4 computers and one cable modem
Jason
Nic in each computer and a router for these 4 computers plus the cable modem to plug in too.

Let the router assign DHCP address's to the 4 computers and thats basically it.

Those are all we install bob, we never have any trouble with them. Your right they are not cheap.

On the cheap I'd put two nic's in one machine and IPMasq everyone else through that one. All then you need is a cheap hub or switch.

The only trouble with that is the machine with two nics has to stay on for the others to have access the internet...
Kingbob
looks like ive got a duff nic card in one of my computers

it seems to be seen by the computer its in it seems to detect the internet sometimes and then not and sometimes it doesnt even see itself

ive tried it in diffrent computers ive tried diffrent conections to the router bothe cable and interface socket thingy and the same problem

unless u can think of anything else

coz the router cable and everything else works for 2 out of 3 computers

NIC's are a dime a dozen. You have proven that the problem is with the faulty nic so ditch it and get a cheapo nic anywhere
Kingbob
icon_cry.gif a dime a dozen maybe...but i live in a crappy town which hasnt got any in stock icon_cry.gif

ordered one yay
