This is so bad, it’s amazing that anyone dare own up to creating it. Focus, usually pretty good with their re-release portfolio, have made a terrible error with this specimen. Quite aside from the fact that no-one should pay real money for anything that refers to them as “dummies”, given the amount of freeware MP3 players and rippers, such as WinAMP or MusicMatch, it is just a waste of hard-earned cash.
It does three things, and only three: It will rip a CD – but only at 128K bit rate (so if you fancied 160K for extra quality, or 96K to save space, forget it). It does not retrieve track details from the Internet, so you have to type in Artist and Title information. It will rip a CD to WAV. It will play them once they are ripped. End of functionality. The cover blurb tries to give the impression that it is saving you time and trouble – HA! If you are looking for an MP3 player, go to http://www.winamp.com. If you want a player and ripper combined, go to http://www.musicmatch.com. Do not buy this, unless you really enjoy wasting money – or being referred to as a “dummy”.
