Full Version: Make a .cue file for a corresponding .bin file
4peeps.com Forums > General Hardware/Software > How To...
AceHigh
Using nero, select burn image and then select the bin directly. A dialogue that appears (Foreign image settings) allows you to choose block size, mode and other stuff normally specified in the cue file.

The .cue file:

.CUE can be made with just Notepad.

A typical PC CD-ROM .CUE looks like this:

FILE "image-name.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

"image-name.BIN" being the name of the image file.

The rules are:
1)A standard 74 min CD is made by 333,000 sectors.
2) Each sector is 2352 bytes big, and contains 2048 bytes of PC CD-ROM (MODE1) Data or CD-XA (Mode2 Form1) Data , 2324 bytes of PSX/VCD (MODE2 Form2) Video Data or 2352 bytes of AUDIO.
3) The difference between secor size and data content are the Headers info and the Error Correction Codes, that are big for Data (high precision required), small for Video and none for audio.
4)If you extract data in RAW format (standard for creating images) you always extract 2352 bytes per sector, not 2048/2324/2352 bytes depending on data type (basically, you extract the whole sector).

So..exactly, how do I do it on a Psx game???

INDEX 01 00:00:00

ApeEscape.cue

I downloaded a game BIN file and created a CUE file from the BIN following the instructions above. I burnt it using NERO, without any problem. But Windows does not read the burnt disc, I don't know why. PLEASE help.
=F.P.M.=[WIG]
If using nero dont bother making the cue file. nero does fine without it. you probably got a bad burn or a bad file in the first place. I just did this about 12 times this weekend and had no issues.

you can burn a .bin file without a .cue with nero express

or use daemon tools and don't burn it at all.

im assuming you read the FAQ...

well, im also assuming you have an original copy of "THUG2", and this is an achival copy...

im also assuming, you are using alcohol 120% to "mount" images...
what you need is daemon tools...much more universal mounter, and no need for a "cue" file...

Lior's Cue Maker v1.08 This is a free program from Lior Chen which will generate a *.cue file from a *.bin which you might have obtained and which lacked an accompanying *.cue. It is extremely easy to use and generates cues for most *.bin files

icon_confused.gif I never knew cue files are so important. I've never needed them, Daemon loads .bin files directly (no cue) and if I wanna burn the .bin file, I mount it with Daemon and use the copy CD option on the burner. I mean, come on, 2 steps and no making cue files. Mount & Copy... lol (if u say mount & copy out loud it almost sounds like mountain copy, or mountain coffee depending on your accent :P)
