Im having constant lockups/reboots with all my games with the 9700.
Not sure its the cards fault. I installed the vid card and 512 more ram, thats all Ive changed. Running 2.03 nforce drivers.
Could this be that vid loop problem Ive herd of in the past???

i'd say it's the new ram, and/or those old gart-drivers

agreed LL... take out the RAM and test first...

When you installed the nForce2 2.03 drivers did you install the Nvidia IDE driver? If you did, uninstall the nForce2 drivers, reboot, reinstall nForce2 2.03 drivers making sure NOT to install the Nvidia IDE. It asks you if you want to do this during the installation process and the default response is 'No'. Stick with the default, in this case.

Is the new ram and the old ram matching speed, brand etc

I have heard the Nforce can be a bit tempromental when it comes to different types of ram.

maybe PSU? i suspect that 9700 sucks a shit load of power icon_wink.gif

Hmm could well be the ram. I had to go through 4 different DDR333 brands to get stable ram for my NForce2.

I don't know, but if it turns out to be the 9700 Pro, take it back, and get you're self a 9500 Non Pro, theres a 9800 hacked version that enables the extra 4 pipelines and extra 128 bus... very impressive for 150$...

just a guess...did u switch agp speed in bios...and while ur there switch how much ram on graphic card setting?...did u kill the nvidia drivers?Have u checked in device manager and saw there is only one vid card there? Is the card's fan plugged up? is the ram showing up in device manager?AND is the computer plugged in icon_twisted.gif :P icon_lol.gif

After trying what the other guys say and you still have the problem, try setting your agp voltage in your bios to 1.6 if it's an option, and in smartgart set to 4x agp and disable fastwrites.............

did this with my brothers 9600 pro, and it fixed his lockup-problems. rather, uncheckin fastwrite did it. can still run in 8x mode. took a while to get to the bottom of it icon_mad.gif
