well, i don't know if any of you read the story on the main page about me wanting to start to write 4peeps original news articles...

if you didnt...heres the low-down...

i feel 4peeps is doing something negative to its self...its not writing enough original articles, stories, or responses to articles, tech news etc...
4peeps always links off to another site, giving that other site HITS and VIEWS...something that 4peeps.com should want!

so to counter that, i feel that 4peeps should start its own news/articles/reviews group...maybe by the name of 4cents News Group???

if you want in, the minimum you would have to do, is write 1 article or story per month...which is to be edited by someone who is appointed, then posted on main page...but also a sub-section...these do not have to be elaborate news pieces, but original...

the second part is creating a proper news mailing system to notify sites of our news that was recently put up...

Anything is up for grabs...id like to see News articles based on events or responses to other news articles, and reviews...the coZmos would benifit from reviews more than the main 4peeps site...so if you get a new game, review it...

im in for sure...thats if the board of peeps approves...i think this is a great idea...one that ive been thinking of for the last 6 months...

Could the articles be something besides reviews? I mean, I'm modding a case right now (nothing major) and then I'll be building a computer that looks like a Winston Cup car next month. Maybe something along the lines of a unique project?

I think its a good idea... and would be damb cool if it got off the gournd... but i (sorry for saying this) can't see this comunity coming together like that....

I can email you the lists I have of other sites I send email announcements to when there's a review or giveaway on either 4peeps or cozmos, Sid. You're right about hits and page views and the regular posting (and subsequent notification to other sites) of original content would go a long way toward boosting those numbers. Those numbers mean everything when you hit vendors up for things to review!

The thing is with writing our own news is that what we are writing is what we find on the Register, the Inquirerer, ZDNet, CNet, and the other sites. Unless we some how are able to get to the press conferences or have some inside sources we will not be able to get "original" new.

Personally I think we should develop original content that will help the end-user. Such as deciding the best motherboard, cpu, gfx card, sound, ect for their personal needs and buck.

There is no reason for us to have original news, the market is just too saturated with it. Perhaps if we did a little comment on it and then posted the original story that would be ideal.

Currently the purpose of 4peeps is to have all the tech news in one place so peeps don't have to go searching for it.

You can write Op-Ed pieces that discuss the news and put it in the perspective of the author. It helps people understand how something might relate to them.

yes...that is original content...more than just a blurb int he comment section...an article on the thoughts...but we can still write original pieces...

I agree. It's hard to get exclusive content without access to the event like that and since I live in Ohio, not CA, it's hard to find any local technology news. The one original news story I posted a while back was about the local cops busting into a back yard on report of a feirce looking gopher. I think that if we could keep our main focus on technology topics, yet still put some funny stuff in from local areas that would add to our own "exclusive" content. I should say original content not exclusive. Anyhow, I think that's an idea we could maybe incorporate into our idea bin.

And unless you are into reading about car parts, I really can't review much since I don't buy a ton of stuff for my machine anymore. Maybe once I get back from college i'll upgrade to something worth reviewing. Other than that, the only thing I could offer at latest is my new cd player I put in my car on Monday:P Kinda technology, but not exactly what we focus on.
