Full Version: What we should do to telemarketers

With the great power of the internet and the incredibly coolness of p2p we can really get back at those telemarketers. Why not call them right before they go home? or while they are getting ready to take their lunch break?

Yea I know these are people who go to work and what not but the fact of the matter is they work for people worse than the Vole himself.

Someone should make a game out of it. Yes versions of it are out but lets make like an actual little game.

Someone could setup a site with a database and user registration.

People can somehow find a way to get the phone numbers of these telemarketing places and put them into the database.

Then people can come online and find their favorite telemarketing companies phone number, ip address, snail mail, email, ect, ect, ect and have fun with them.

For getting certain facts out of them or perhaps pissing someone off they can give themselves so many points.

Not really a true game but fun none the less. What do ya say? icon_biggrin.gif

Not a bad idea, except for the user registration part. If you have to register, they might find a way to get your name and start calling YOU! icon_eek.gif That would kind of defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?

i hardly recieve calls from telemarketers...guess they like me...

usually, call centers use a HUGE computer configuration, where the peeps calling you have no clue what your name is until the computer starts to auto dial your number...

and they do not accept incoming calls...outgoing only...

well the user registration is pure username and password. no real name required. icon_biggrin.gif

and that is why we need good hackers in this world ~sid~ icon_wink.gif

Instead of calling the telemarketers that are only filling a job, irratating as it is, start calling tha business that the telemarketers represent. Call them a lot tie up their phones give them the message. 8.gif

And just imagine what our Black Hat counter parts could do...dDoS attacks and what not on their computers. Effectively shutdown their business...

I just let the machine get it. Telemarketers usually hang up when they hear the message.

Our new cordless phones have Caller ID built in to the handset, so when we receive a call, if it's a number I don't recognize, I'll let the machine get it.

And I don't care if the telemarketers are just filling a job or not - they expect me to take time out of my day and give it to them. What they're doing is uncalled for (no pun intended) and the majority of the ones I've answered to usually talk too fast to get a word in edgewise, or are borderline rude when they get the idea you're about to terminate the call.

If I want to have fun with them, I'll make smacking or clicking noises into the phone to break their rhythm, then ask them if it's annoying. When they say yes, I'll reply "almost as annoying as taking unwanted calls from telemarketers. Have a nice day" and hang up.

One time, I said yeah? that sounds neat, lemme get my checkbook. I proceeded to take the cordless and set it next to the TV for 20 mins. Well, the hung up, and not long after I did, they called back. I did the same thing again. They never called back.

Another trick is to take the phone into the bathroom, pee in the toilet with phone close by, then flush. They don't call back.

I gave the phone to my son (then 6) and they had a nice 10 min conversation. They never called back.

I think some companies won't let them hang up. help.gif
