no...
its my hardware firewall blocking windows update...
any and all computers connected experience this...
if i run direct, with no firewall, not a prob...but running without it is a big PITA...cause i have to reinstall the access manger software...

Booo... you don't want to use the access manager from the Telco... it sucks big moosey...
Have you set the router to PPPoE... I usually assign my comp a static LAN Ip.. you probably did that... but you never know.
It worked for me.

Strange, I used to have DI-704 and never had any issues with windows update. Did you try the dmz option for the computer that you were trying to update?
~sid~
Aug 20 2003, 12:50 PM
yes, DMZ is set, also using PPPoE...everything runs fine...
i even got some "other" apps working from behind the firewall...

As far as I know Windows Update uses port 80 and 443. I can't find any info on it though...

Sid, I'm using a 98se machine right now but try to find a windows update setup files folder in your windows folder and see if you show a cab file relating to the media player you are trying to install. Maybe it's corrupted or something. It couldn't hurt to dump your windows temp folder's contents either.

win update was a little busy yesterday, what did it do for you today?
It sounds like your firewall is doing a good job locking you inas well as locking others out. Prehaps something more configurable might be better.
