A friend recently bought an Audigy card.

he is having untold problems with it.

The last one to fix is the computer will not go in to standby mode (WIN XP)
if the card is disabled in device manager it will go in to standby mode.
He has latest XP driver.

Computer spec etc is irrelivant as disabiling the Audigy shows that the computer is fine, its only when the Audigy is enabled the computer will not go in to standby.

Any ideas ?

Has your friend got the XP drivers for it? That could be the problem.XP does have driver support built in for Creative cards, but you are tsill better off running the genuine drivers- they are optimized for the card afterall.

Tried built in XP ones and new Creative XP ones both will not allow standby, it just hangs.

Disable Audigy and standby works fine.

Also Hibernate works with Audigy.

Best sbet is to email creative and try and get an answer from them.
The only thing I found at MS was http://support.microsoft.com/search/previe...b;en-us;Q319595

Sorted it, he had a SB Live with the "FULL" Liveware 3 on his computer.

I uninstalled Audigy, used a registry cleaner, then manually deleted all instances to sb live, creative, audigy and liveware, there were hundreds.
Then after this did MS reg cleaner/fixer.

All is fine now. I hate Liveware icon_evil.gif

He has drivers only now like me icon_cool.gif

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, I APPRECIATE IT icon_cool.gif
