well you could get Apache, MySQL, and PHP and get that going.
http://www.nusphere.com/ <- You'll have to sign up and look for the free version of the Nusphere Technology Platform
http://www.firepage.com.au/ <- Another AMP package that you can get...I would go with v4.2.3
then people on your network could access your webpage by typing your ip address into the address bar. eg.
http://127.0.0.1/index.php

If you want to just serve some simple webpages, look no farther than AnalogX Simple WWW server. It's small, only like 250KB, and it works great. I think you could configure it to do PHP, but im not real sure. I've used it before to host small little pages off my 56k back at home and my friends with cable off IRC would access my site and it was pretty fast apparently

I also tried apache, that was kidna cool too, a lot more powerful than I needed though. Very good if you are expecting lots of hits.
Anyhow, here's the AnalogX page, go under the Network section to get the Simple Server WWW.

yes KingBob you can but you will need to configure your router to forward the request to your computer.

just forward port 80 to your box and ppl will be able to access it from outside your router.
the analogx client is simple and works very well if you just want to host a simple web page. however, it's pretty cpu hungry when ppl log on and it's limited to 1 connection only.

Bob, all you need to do is run Apache and setup the .htaccess files to only allow who you want to see it. You do not need anything else so ignore what other people have said above. I've done this longer than you guys have.

Yes and also very insecure. Setting security on the web server level is much more secure. At least one would think so....

insecure? if it is done properly it is not insecure.
