Ok my friend just got a new setup AMD Athlon 2600+ Barton Core with an MSI K7N2 Delta Series Board and A stick of 512 DDR PC 2700 333mhz Kingston Ram. Now he knows nothing and he still mangaged to overclock it 276 Mhz so now it is running at 2.19 instead of 1.91. Is this good to do what are the effects in the long run I am just wondering cause I have never overclock myself or felt the need to. And is this overclock good?

overclocking always tear on your equipment in the long run. wouldn't worry about those numbers you've got there though. if he got proper cooling it should run for a long time yes.gif

According to your post in the this thread, he is using the stock heatsink and fan. I suggest that he gets a better setup than that. Something like a Vantec Aeroflow or a Thermalright SK-7, SLK-800 or SLK-900 with a decent 80 or 92mm fan.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I was able to overclock my 2500+ Barton from 1.83Ghz to 2.3Ghz (almost 500Mhz), and I was using an SK-7 and a Vantec Tornado. The Tornado wound up being to loud for me, so I go rid of it and I'm now using a 92mm Sunon that puts out ~50cfm and is much quieter. I think the fastest I've had my cpu with that fan is ~2.1Ghz.

It is not needed really I mean with the overlclock and all this is his Temps..with stock.. about 90-100 On the Processor..As I said before he keeps his room below 70 all the time...icon_wink.gif I guess if he wanted to try to puch it harder maybe but that is up to him.
