Uploading Custom Ringers and Images to a Motorola t72x, t73x series phone...

After much testing, and much aggrivation, I have finished cracking my Motorola t731c, which is (supposedly) locked to prevent any uploading of images or ringers to the phone... I have created a basic step-by-step guide to help those in need...

Step-By-Step instructions

Just 3 questions...

1- Will uploading ringtones and images from that software void my warrantee? (Telus)

2- Where do i find the proper file types to upload?

3- Would you happen to know how much a data cable for my T731c will cost me?

Thanks
Earthman
1. No it won't.. as the program you use to upload them was made by motorola themselves.. hehehe

2. Me, the hard thing I found with ringers and papers is finding the right sizes as well.. I mostly made my own wallpapers, and for ringers, I fond some midis, and converted them to type 0 myself.

3. A serial data cable you can probably find on e-bay for a good price.. me, when it comes to motorola I only use original accessories... so I ended up paying about $60 CDN for mine... and I work at a dealership.. lol..

Someone let me know soon because im going to have to rturn it if it dosent work..earthman??

Sorry about the lack of a response.. I've been out of commision for a bit...

The ringers and images only work with the serial cable, not the usb... there is no way for the software to pick up the USB cable...

fragend013.gif Earthman,

Just the topic I was researching. So, I found the following T73* serial cables on the net:

Motorola Cdn website:
Motorola Canad PCS Accessories - 98320

eBay:
eBay Motorola serial cable

some US online shop:
US part no: S9141

If I look at all the pics, they seem to be the same except the genuine Motorola one comes with an adapter. Will the eBay one work? The Motorola site doesn't say specifically that the serial cable will work with the T731c, but will with the T720g, but these two phones look identical to me.

buckle_bos, I too am on the west coast (Vancouver) and trying to get a serial cable for my T731c. We could get together and get it?

Any serial cable will work as long as it has one of the t7XX series compatible and, as long as you have the drivers properly installed so that the computer recognises it as a Motorola 1X serial modem or as a Motorola P2K Modem (or something along those lines)...
