Now, what's everyone thankful for this year?
I actually sat down and made a list tonight, to remind myself that life isn't really as bad as it seems. Prolly get a little sappy, but what the heck. Sometimes you've just got to look at things the other way around.
I'm thankful for:
My family, because without them I would be alone, and because they never judge, only support, although they are capable <and do on occasion> set me on my a$$ as gently but firmly as necessary.
My friends, because they keep me grounded when I need them, and are quick to celebrate with me when times are good.
My job, because I get to do something I love, meet people from all over the world, and improve the world a little for everyone who comes to see a show.
My health, which while not perfect, is still good enough, and much better than many others'.
My cat, who gives me unconditional love, even when I screw up.
My mother, who raised me to be the person I am, and gave me my sense of self, my sense of right and wrong, and my commitment to doing what is right as opposed to what is easy.
My luck, because although I've hit two deer in as many years while driving at a high rate of speed, I've never been hurt, and the tally could have been a LOT higher given how much I drive.
My sense of humour. While it's often dark, it often gets me through things I couldn't imagine facing, even when all I really want to do is curl up in a ball and give up.
Message boards, which give me even more opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, from all over the world, some of whom have developed into real friends.
There are more, but that's enough to share here. I don't usually go for the introspective thing, but after the last couple of weeks, I needed it. Even when things are awful, there is something to be thankful for, and I'm glad I found mine.
