Dog 'saves baby's life'
A 13-year-old German Shepherd has saved the life of a baby girl who stopped breathing.
Max starting whining and jumping about in the car when his owner's 18-month-old daughter Shona started convulsing.
Shona's parents, Marion Derrane, 39, and Mick McDonald, 44, stopped the car and flagged down a nearby ambulance.
Ms Deranne, a housewife, said: "There is no doubt Max has saved our little girl's life. It is totally out of character for him to jump about like that. He knew something was wrong. He's a hero."
The family, from Kemp Town, Brighton, were driving along the coast road in nearby Peacehaven.
Marion said: "Shona and Max do have an incredible relationship. It sounds odd but Max really looks out for her. He lets her take his bone, and she feeds him biscuits from the cupboard.
"Shona may not have been here today if it was not for Max."
Doctors said Shona had suffered the convulsion because her temperature had risen to dangerous levels.
