Hey guys, new here. I hope this can be my new home. hehe, right moving along.

I have a g-force 2 mmx 440. NOt the best I know, but it can do the job.

Problem :: When installing latest drivers 2003 that is, updating from 2002, it upgrades no hassels, then all of a sudden, whe I access my controll panel ( graphics controll panel ) via right click --> properties--->setting---> advanced--> geforce , at the point of clicking on it, it crashed with a error. Saying I have a dll problem

now what? wallbash.gif

I would probably start by uninstalling the drivers completely. Do the add/remove thing. Let the computer reboot. Then install the drivers.

It is always best to uninstall the old nvidia drivers b4 you update the drivers.

If that does not work...remove the device from the device manager and then remove everything you can find nvidia and reboot.

Hope this helps a bit. icon_confused.gif

ha! Yes. That might be it. I have become very lazy with Xp's way of rolling drivers back. Not really unistalling anything. Perhaps your right about starting it from clean.

I'll give it a try then. icon_cool.gif

Good luck and let us know how it goes. yes.gif

Eureka!!! Finally someone with the same damn problem as me!!!!

Bad news for you my friend, but now I don't feel so alone out here w/ the wonderful nv4disp.sys BSOD. icon_smile.gif

If you have the Nvidia taskbar icon running next to your clock, right click on that, you get the same error as you do on boot up. It's great, ain't it???? icon_evil.gif

WHy? I cannot understand. Maybe we have a virus? no..Or perhaps I need to update my Xp? Havent done that in a while. Yeah, I got the clock thing aswell..

Well, I can tell you for sure it isn't a virus. I have had this problem for ahwile now and I can 100% rule out a virus.

Have you tried using your TVOUT function on your vid card? Mine won't work as well. Keeps thinking there is a TV plugged into it and won't allow me to watch DVDs on my Computer due to the Macrovision copyright thing. They might be related but I could be wrong.

You can update the hell out of your XP rig, it still won't matter, the BSOD will be there. Sometimes I get lucky, wait like 10 minutes for the computer to boot and THEN get the BSOD and have to start all over again. It's great freaking fun.

What make of Vid Card is yours?

The only driver set that didn't pose a problem (and are relatively new) are the 41.09s driver set. But they are a year or so old now and certain games I have look all messed up because I am using such a old driver set.

The best advice I can give you is to download a nice little utility called Driver Cleaner and follow the instructions for removing whatever current driver set you have installed and then install the 41.09s.

If our problems are pretty similar, you shouldn't get the BSOD or the long assed boot time.

Let me know.

I have the Nividea. G-force mmx. And my drivers are 2002. SO they are also 1 year behind. I dunno, I'am going to fiddle with it tonigh, in safe mode, and just generally try and get it to work. MAybe I find the solution??

Havent tried my tv port yet...

So updates are outa question then..lol Just aswell, since last night it made me a shit long list of crap I need to download...bugger that!

Have eather of you reinstalled your OS after you got this problem?

Hi, the reason I ask was to be sure that I wasn’t going to tell you to do something that you have already done, and to find out if it was more likely a hardware or software problem.

Anyway I had the same problem a while back, and I found that it was something to do with NVIDIA’s more recent detonators, having problems when you hadn’t uninstalled the old ones. I can’t find the link that helped me get to the fix, but I did fix it.

Bewared this is from memory!! I’m not sure that this is 100 % correct! wheeeeeh.gif

It has something to do with the NV*.* files not being updated correctly. Basically uninstall the current NVIDIA drivers, make sure that you don’t have the NVIDIA in the root of “C:\” then boot into safe mode. Then what you need to do is delete all files with “NV*.*” in their name in the system32, this will more than likely cause a problem on reboot, but windows should detect it as an unknown graphics card. Then try and install the current Dets and see what you get!!

Shadowmeld
Um, Coz, I dunno what Brand it is, I bought it second hand of a old friend. I''ll check up on that.

Hey I tried Athlon's thing, it must have been those darn detonators, but its working now. I cleared every single damn registry entry of it.

WORKING!!! YIPPEEE!! icon_lol.gif
