Searched for recipes for mom...she told me (tonight icon_rolleyes.gif ) that she's got to bring a "breakfast munchie" dish to work Monday morning.

If anyone knows WTF a "breakfast munchie" is other than muffins or fruit, please let me know. I'm having a hell of a time. A few minutes ago she told me she was thinking of making a cheesy hash brown casserole. wallbash.gif wallbash.gif

-went looking for houses, found no less than 35 in one subdivision alone

-put a new starter in my Jeep <luckily she decided she needed a new one in the parking lot of Advance Auto

-Changed the oil in the wife's Jeep, my Jeep, and the Blazer

-found out the wierd metallic sound I've been hearing out of the front end of my jeep was the lower control arm's bolt loose <!!!!!!>. Let's hear it for jam nuts. Hit that sucker with the impact and a little locktight

-tested out my new welder. W00t!! 1.gif INCREDIBLE improvement in my welds. With just a bit of practice, I think I'll be able to trust my welds for anything.

-watched LOTS of the 3 Stooges marathon on AMC. Jeeze, it kills me. icon_cool.gif

-broiled a couple TASTY steaks for the wife and I... <I really need to buy or build a new grill>

Went to work on 1 hour 15 minutes of sleep...

Drove an hour south, did a loadin for 2 hours and 40 minutes. icon_rolleyes.gif

Went shopping with a couple of women I work with...started my Christmas shopping because I found character games for the kids that were made in the USA. icon_mrgreen.gif Decided to make latch-hook pillows for the kids to go with the latch-hook rugs I made for them a couple of years ago, so picked up the kits for 3 of the 5 to start. Then went out for lunch.

Did the first show, dressing one of the female children in The Sound of Music. *sigh*

Ordered dinner in, with the hope of getting a nap...discovered the children were having school during the break, said school happening in the only room with a couch for napping. Read a book instead.

Did the second show, then drove home in wind gusts up to 45mph, which tended to want to blow the car off the freeway...in a snowstorm.

Stopped at the bar for a much-needed cocktail.

Now home, catching up with online work (and surfing) I didn't get to because I was gone.

Got up early, mowed the lawns, took some shit to the tip, changed the water in/cleaned 3 fish tanks, watched the Grand Prix, played guitar for a couple of hours, had a couple of beers, logged on, waiting for the rest of my family to turn up as we're off out for dinner this evening.....

Went to my niece's (can I call her that when this is only the fourth time I've seen her since her birth on 9/25?) 100-day celebration (in lieu of baptism) party. Got to hold her for a whole 3 minutes!!!!! Then had to sit and listen to my SIL's drivel about how wonderful her family is and the neighbors have been so helpful, her sister and fiancee and all the wonderful memories they've given to my niece....

And you know what Peeps? I didn't kill that self-centered bitch.

-put a new fuel pump in the wife's ZJ <94 Grand Cherokee>. Seems to have fixed the problem altogether <for a $270 part, it damn well better!>

-ran all over town looking for a Fram Sure-Drain valve for my XJ's <90 Cherokee> oil pan with 14X1.25 thread. Turns out noone has it, and it may not even be made <going to look now>. Balls-- these things are THE SHIT for easy oil changes. No tools, no mess.

-installed a new IAC in my 90 XJ. Seems to have solved the high idle <1900RPM> problem I was having, and with any luck will drastically boost my gas mileage.

-sourced the last few parts I need for my SFA project for the Blazer-- should be able to stick them together with the welder within two weeks.

-took my kid for a quick spin in the Jeep- always a big treat for him <and me>

-cleaned the back porch as best I am able. Can't wait to be done with the SFA project so I can have some bloomin' ROOM!
AceHigh
Purchased 2 new toilets that are higher, and flush better and installed them.

Mucked about, read a little, cleaned up apartment (yes, I know, a recurring theme with me), bought protein powder (5lbs), went to a park in Fort Richmond (south end of city and where I grew up), took a bunch of pictures, came home, edited said pics and now am going to watch the Ten Commandments as it is a classic film. Have a nap and then do exercises and some writing. icon_wink.gif
Mister 4x4
Got up, watched the race, loaded RH8 on my weenie little laptop (during the race), went to the Hobby Shop for some quick tack-welding on a jig I made a few years ago, and here I am.

Basically, I haven't really done sh!t all day.
burntkat
I WISH our local hobby shop had the welder and plasma cutter hooked up locally. They've got 'em, but the base facilities folk haven't got off their collective duffs and hooked up a 220VAC outlet for 'em. <idiots!>

What kinda jig?

Our training system workstations have this crazy system called LINK that hangs off the backs of the desks. To standardize the 'hooks' we've been using, I made some jigs to fold the hooks (14 gauge solid wire) to uniform sizes.

We've bent something like a half mile of wire into hooks (roughly 2400 of them) and are down to only needing the last 200 bent. One of the pegs I welded on (made out of 3/16 plate and re-bar 'pegs') broke off.

One of the guys gave me crap about my welds being crappy, and I told him that considering they were my first welds ever, and considering they lasted as long as they did, I'm quite happy. And he's welcome to go back to bending them by hand if he likes. He's decided to shut up and wait for my repairs - asshat. (Dennis, BTW Ace - if you read this)

Nothing major.
the_burner
Went over to Ma Kettle's to sponge supper and couldn't be bothered once I got there, drove home. Not in the mood to put up with the stream of negativity today.
burntkat
LOL- well, since he's already given you guff, I won't.

I finally got to test my welds on my ricker skids on the XJ-- nearly rolled her about 3 weeks ago <the rear diff catching a berm is all that kept me from goin' over> and we winched off of the skids. Apparently, my welds are good to go.

Just bought a new MIG < Lincoln 3200HD - FCAW, GMAW> the other day and have been a metal-burning fool lately. Good tools really do make all the difference!

-decided the hell with it-- I'm goin' to the chiro tomorrow for the first time in my life. 6 months ago I tweaked my back <doing nothing more extravagant than standing up-- WTF?> and haven't had a full range of motion in my neck since. I just want my flexibility back, so I can get to the gym and maybe a martial arts class
Mister 4x4
Well, I made the jigs (templates, whatever) something like 4 years ago, and they've hung in there this long.

Not bad for the first time, I guess.

Sadly, the repairs I made tonight were my second welds ever... and although much better - still look like ass. Even with a wire-feed TIG welder.

I'll get more practice this summer with my new Jeep bumper, nerf bars, and rock buggy. icon_biggrin.gif
Felix4067
Went to work having forgotten that the time change meant less sleep than I thought. icon_rolleyes.gif

Did one show, then took myself out for Chinese food.
Did the second show.
Did the loadout.
Drove home, stopped for dinner...and only after arriving home remembered that I have leftover Chinese food in the car. icon_rolleyes.gif

Sitting here desperately needing sleep, but unable to unwind quickly enough to do so. *sigh* icon_cry.gif

You are probably not to blame, rebar is a poor low grade materal, a little better than cast or pig iron. If you had steel your weld would have held better.

Over in Nam, all I had was PSP, fence posts and old gas barrels.
