Slept. Ate lunch. Slept some more. Ate dinner. Seriously thinking about more sleep.

This is why I hate weekends... *sigh*

I am selfish about things like that but I love when a sickness slows them down for a minute and all they want to do is cuddle.

Decided I don't care if it's cold and supposed to snow again, I needed to start working on my flower beds. Raked all the old leaves, etc. out, and started turning the dirt...and then my hands were frozen, so I came inside.

Received an invitation to a friend's 30th birthday party (he's coming in from New York for it), which is supposed to take place on MY birthday, which everyone has apparently forgotten about. icon_neutral.gif

installed my bushwacker fender flares yesterday <after skating out of work early-- hell-- we weren't ding anything anyway>

took 4 hours, LOTS of custom fitting <which I don't think should be necessary for something purposefully made for a given vehicle>, but damn they look good now.. icon_cool.gif

thinking seriously about a repeat today <about the same time... now> and getting to work on my front bumper. I've got all the plates cut that I can cut, just gotta weld 'em together...
Zim
Found out I have a passing grade in the class from hell. YAY ME!

-ordered a steering box brace system for the front of my 90 XJ. Put it on the fast boat, since I just sold my old wire-feed welder. $188. OUCH! However, XJs are known for taking "frame" damage around the steering box since the "frame" <I say "frame" since it doesn't actually have one- it's unibody> is just 1/8" hi-tensile steel folded up. Fine for street use, but once you put big tires on her and do gnarly wheeling, you're asking to rip it up.

Not wanting to have to figure out how to repair such damage, and running an approximately 180 pound front bumper by the time I finish building it, figured it'd make sense to go ahead and strengthen the area now, especially since I have the welder for it now.

This, and the windshield, should do me for a while. This is the last serious weak area of the vehicle I need to address before I start really using it the way I want to. The windshield has a crack in it, which 1) can get me pulled for a ticket, and 2) <and to me, more importantly> leaks like a mofo and is annoying me.

-planning on laying out the hole pattern for the spring hanger crossmember for my Blazer solid axle swap on a piece of 6"X37"X1/4" steel flatbar this evening, assuming the wife gives me some time alone. icon_wink.gif

Took mother shopping then came home to plan for taking the miserable cat back to my friend house then off to pick my friends from local airport.....

Almost forgot to leave for work on time, thinking I was working in a COMPLETELY different location than I was (thinking 5 miles as opposed to 25 miles away).

Worked all morning, then drove back into town for an executive board meeting, which lasted four freaken hours.

Now home, trying to decide if I feel like making something for dinner or ordering a pizza. Leaning toward pizza.

Will go back to work in about five hours for the rest of the night.

Made 10 simple programs in Java, C++ and C. Also learned that Java doesn't have boolean variables for some reason. I think it doesn't. I could be wrong.
Zim
Found out that java does contain a boolean variable it's just not called bool. Doh! It's declared with boolean instead of bool. And I already turned my homework in. icon_cry.gif

Spring for the kid this week. Took the day off and played some golf with him. He is just learning. I just suck. He is gonna be kicking my butt this summer. Came home and mowed the lawn.

took delivery of the spares left over from a friend's 82 CJ-7 project:
-1 31" spare <which I need for the Blazer. Blazer needs tires, but with me being so close to the SFA swap, I can't justify buying tires that will either be too small for how she'll end up, or too big to put on her now>

-set of 87 Wagoneer rear springs

-set of 82 CJ-7 front springs

-all for $0!

I now have a hybrid S-10 spring <old approach to the build- need to throw out>, a set of YJ front springs, 87 Wagoneer rear springs, 87 Wagoneer front springs, and 82 CJ-7 front springs, cluttering up my porch. I need a freakin' garage.

-making plans to head to the hobby shop this weekend to swap out the add-a-leaf spring pack in the back of my XJ with some combi of the above to give me 6" of lift, and about to order front coils for 5" for the front of my XJ. After I get the XJ rear pack figured out, I can throw away or stash in another place, the springs I don't need.

-shopping for a good sawzall so I can trim down the front bumper mounts so I can mount my front skidplate this weekend, and need to drill a couple holes inthe gas tank skidplate so I can mount it too. Smacked the tank pretty well last week, and don't want to do that again- it's only 8 months old or so...

-still awaiting my spring shackle hangers for the Blazer. I swear this thing is going to be half-CJ by the time I'm done... <sincerely considering a "hafjeep" license plate... icon_cool.gif >

Great to see you Scaler!! Return email sent last night. Be well and say hello to S for me please and give her my kindest regards. As to the golf, well, let's just say I have my challenges ahead of me. yes.gif
When I last played, I discovered forgotten words in my vocabulary and have come up with new and most creative combinations of the extant less than salutary words, vis a vis, the game and my skill sets.

Picked up a paycheck, and discovered a "bonus" paycheck I'd forgotten about was waiting for me as well (one of our employers decided as of the first of the year they weren't mailing checks any more icon_rolleyes.gif ).

Cashed said checks, and went to the DMV because I realized if I didn't renew my plate and get my new license before the weekend, I'd have to pay outrageous fines when I do.

Made appointment to get my taxes done, which I've had to put off because I didn't have the money until now.

-considered going ahead and ordering the snorkel for my XJ since I got my state return back yesterday, but decided to hold off on that for now.

-got heckled as I was walking in the parking lot of Lowe's. I was wearing my drizabone and bushhat, it's pouring, and some redneck mutters "who's he think he is, Crocodile Dundee?" as he passes me. I yelled "Hey!", he turned around, I doffed my hat, and said "no-- I just happen to like staying dry, and when you've got no hair it SUCKS being rained on!"

-all delivered with a smile, and we both laughed, shook hands, and wished each other a good day. Pretty cool. icon_cool.gif

-went to Lowe's to get some ball detent 1/4" hitch pins to replace the spring slipped pins tht came with my swaybar disconnects, because two of them decided to depart the vehicle for no good reason, suddenly leaving me at high speed with no swaybar connection to the front axle. Talk about white-knuckle experience!

-got the strangest looks in the parking lot as I jacked each side of my Jeep up with the hilift jack to about a 30 degree angle, wheels still on the ground, to reconnect my sways. It had to look strange-- most vehicles aren't capable of doing that sort of thing. I have basically stumbled arse-backwards into a long-travel suspension, on the cheap. Only problem is the add-a-leafs in the rear pack make the ride very harsh, so this is why I'm putting the Wrangler leafs in this weekend <probably with an add a leaf of a leaf taken from the S-10 pack>

-while I was in Lowe's <third time I've been today, BTW. Once for work, twice for parts for my projects>, saw an endcap of Black & Decker sawzalls in passing. Took a look at the specs- 7.5amp motor, no tool blade changing, etc. Sounds good. Looked at the price.. $59. Done deal. Grabbed some 14TPI blades and when I got home tested it out on the offending parts of the angle used to mount my front bumper. Went through it, "like butta". Rule! Better yet, it came with a pack of assorted blades, one of which is for tree pruning.

Goodbye, rubber-tree plant the previous occupants of my apartment planted outside my gate. icon_wink.gif

-having found that my Harbor Freight 1/2" impact wrench isn't capable of cracking the torque that the install-monkey put on the hitch drawball on my old hitch or the pinion yoke on the D44s for my Blazer, bought a 3/4" 500ft/lb impact at HF. It's the mojo, certainly. Cracked 'em off with no problem whatsoever. W00t!
