been a busy weekend:

Saturday: started welding in the passenger side chassis reinforcement for my XJ. Learned how to do Rosette welds-- gor, they take FOREVER. Burned up most of a 2 pound roll of Innershield wire on just the outer plate and was about to call it a day when I realized I still had a roll of Chicago electric <Harbor Freight brand> ES71-GS MIG wire... which as it happens, burned better than the Innershield wire. Took about 4 hours of work, what with cleaning the metal, drilling holes, and all that.

Sunday: more of the same, except I got a much later start as I laid down for a few minutes with my son as he and the wife settled down to watch the race <I just can NOT get into NastyCar racing>. When I tried to get up, he said "no daddy, you can't go.. stay here and lie down with me"..... so I told him after some negotiating that I'd lay down with him for a half hour and then had to get to work.

Woke up 2 hours later. Got the passenger's side of the reinforcement done, using much less wire this time. Proceeded to test it using my patented testing methods <LOTS of caffeine, the biggest BFH I can find, and loads of aggression spent trying to remove the welded items from each other's company.>. It passed.

Then, as I have a friend who's baby was born with some medical problems last Monday and is in NICU now, I went over to their place and took care of their dogs and cut the lawn. I'm hoping that they just have REALLY thick grass, and I wasn't as beat afterwards from just normal yardwork.

Secured the weight bench he told me I could have <the same one his next-door neighbors gave to him and I helped him take home, 6 months ago-- and has not moved since>, and then went to Walmart to buy 120 pounds of freeweights.

Admired how far my wife has come in her fitness. She's gone from XX-maternity to a size 9 in about 15 months. Now, size 9 isn't what you'd call "model perfect"- but skinny crackfiend lookin' models never did anything for me, anyway. Real women have curves... and... Rooowwrrr!!! icon_wink.gif . She's got the goal of getting in "fitness-model shape". Not skinny, but toned. She'll do it.

Realized I'm gonna look awful funny standing next to her, so resolved to use the weight bench often....

keep an eagle eye on that temp gauge for a while.....

last night- got home with the intent to get on the driver's side of the frame welding-- and never got to it........

.. cuz I laid down with my son under the blanket on the couch "to hide from mommy" <his idea>-- and we both promptly fell asleep.

That was the one I finally watched last night...

WARNING! SPOILERS FOR 24 SEASON 3 BELOW (but the episode has already been shown on TV!!!

Last week, on the radio, they said "Someone from CTU dies tonight." Gee, thanks. I think at the time, I don't think Saunders had not even *made* the request!! 8.gif

And when Chapelle had nobody to contact, I was thinking...what about his wife? He wore a wedding band. But I guess they decided to make him sound lonely.

you think that's funny.....

last week my wife decided to prove to me that I've been snoring. So she recorded what happened when I apparently woke them up....

all you can hear is me snoring in the background, and my son going on and on..

"MoMMYYY... daddy's snoring AGAIN. Make it stop!"

It runs, and I watch the temperature gage more often than I do my mirrors, I think. Especially since I'm working in Lansing this week, and driving past the place where it died twice a day. icon_eek.gif

Tomorrow I'm going to check under the hood after running it home and then another round trip to make sure nothing is leaking anywhere. I'm hoping not, but at least if it is, I can get it back to them before I go to work (just doing nights this week after today).

Today:
Got to sleep around 2:30am. Woke up at 6am to mom saying "weren't you going to leave at 6:30?" help.gif wallbash.gif

FLEW through the shower, grabbed the lunch I managed to pack last night, and FLEW out the door at 6:40 to be in Lansing at 8:00. Signed in at 7:58 after dealing with morning traffic in two cities intead of getting there early like I'd planned.

Worked from 8am to 5pm (with a one-hour break) prepping the show (I mostly polished and repaired shoes), then after another one-hour break did the show, then drove home, got here at a little after 1am.

today-

-studied for about 6 hours at work, towards my CCNA

-picked my son up from school early and took him for a treat- a Frosty from Wendy's- and spent some time with him till the wife got home.

-went to get some of the offending bracketry out of the way for the coming driver's side welding task <steering box brace, etc> and kept on at it, ending up with having the outer part of the bracket fully welded in. All I have to do now is to weld the driver's inner, modify the forward part of the bracket that I cut off, to sandwich in the winch mount, and weld it in.

"4-hour install" my arse! It's been about 10 hours of work so far!

-talked wih a good friend I haven't talked with in quite a while and caught up on happenings. Great convo icon_cool.gif

Went to work.

On my way home from work, tried to go grocery shopping. Discovered upon arrival at the 24/7 grocery store that they'd blocked off all the freaken grocery aisles so one lone man could slowly wax the floors, thus making it impossible to go grocery shopping.

I stepped over the rope in an aisle he hadn't gotten to yet to get some things, and was promptly escorted from the store by a manager who appeared out of nowhere. Apparently, it's not allowable to walk on the not-yet-clean floor six aisles down from where they moron is waxing.

-woke up sorer than I've been in quite some time and decided to hell with the coming move, I'm buying a new mattress to replace the waterbed mattress that can't be repaired. Will deal with the move later

-called every freakin' bedding, decor, home center, and mattress store in town only to finally find a waterbed mattress 30 miles away in the next town.

-skipped out of work early and went to get it.... only to be told that it would take 4 days to get shipped in. GRrrrrr... paid, and will pick up Monday Can NOT WAIT! No more full motion, so it oughta be much more comfy

-got my HAM callsign printed out for the back windows of each of my trucks

-went home, started the old mattress to draining, and set tools out to start working on the inner frame plate welding, and then washed the windows to apply the callsigns. As I finished squeegyig the water from under the last one, it occurred to me I'd gone and soaked the ground where I would have to lay down and weld the out of position welds for the inner plate. Disgusted, put all the tools back up, leaving the steering box disconnected from the framerail

-did some research for beginning weight lifting exercises. Got a weight bench recently and want some direction for a good overall lifting program. Suggestions, anyone?

-spent some time with the wife and kid, and laid down on the couch with my son to watch Finding Nemo Out I went....

-woke up about 9pm. Found out the mattress had drained enough to where it was just barely liftable. Stood on the scale out of curiousity-- 180 pounds, it weighed. Trudged it out to the dumpster

-went to Books a Million only to find out they've got the place ripped up juggling everything around. Got my copy of Australian 4X4 Monthly, found out there are entirely too many different versions of the Kama Sutra and Tantra-centric books to choose one randomly, and left. I'm open for any suggestions on books having to do with this subject, and related issues... icon_wink.gif

-Will probably be up all night. Pfeh

Went to work, where I spent the first four hours hand sewing seam flaps down in costumes that were never finished before they got sent to the show.

Peak Conditioning

Tons of exercises with pictures on how to lift. Page 47 to 125 is just on different ways to lift weights. Most can be done with a bench. Some stuff on exercise plans. Just a book that covers all of the fitness scene. There is probably some stuff you don't need like picking a shoe for running but most of it is stuff you will actually use and need to know.

Also the body for life lifting plan is excellent. The diet plan is really hard to follow and is what broke my 11 month fitness kick. It really kill my desire to be thin. But damn do you gain strength and loss inches on that plan.
