My advice during a crisis or emergency: Be in a place where you can't get a signal on your mobile phone. yes.gif icon_wink.gif

Soooo.. since I have Sprint, this means I should camp out DIRECTLY UNDER THEIR FREAKIN' TOWER during a crisis?

<can you tell I deplore Sprint?>

Good thing it's the US Taxpayer footing the bill.... 'cuz I darn sure wouldn't pay.

Finally got the house inspected-- he made the 2pm appointment <20 minutes late, but given the way the state has torn apart the roads around here, really can't falt him>.

Nice guy, very apologetic. Took him about 2 hours to do the inspection-- but he was very thorough. There is some minor water damage to one piece of siding <right up next to a window> that will be an easy Saturday project to replace. No evidence of water damage inside, no cracks in ceiling or walls, he said it's in good shape. So that's done.

Got an indication from the realtor's finance guy that he'd be able to get me done for almost a full percentage point less than the other place that told me they could do me, and also a fixed-rate mortgage as opposed to an ARM. Thank the gods! Interest rates are only going up, and an adjustable rate mortgage wasn't what I really wanted to sign up for. Although, this is the time to buy, and since the ARM was a 3-year fixed ARM, it wasn't outside the scope of possibility.

Other than that, been pretty much a wasted day. About 5pm I laid down and took a nap. Didn't mean to- laid down to play with the kid, and out I went.

I need to find that darn switch!

Mowed 1/2 the yard and painted on the gutter, that job is going slower than I though. I wish I had a tow motor for a elevator.

Managed to fritter away the entire day debating something on another site, then barely made it out the door in time to miss rush hour traffic on my way to work.

Did a show, then drove home in a monsoon (complete with the coolest lightning strikes EVER and tons of thunder), then stopped by the bar for some dinner and flirting. After that, grocery shopping.

Now home, having put everything away, wishing once again it weren't 3am, or that I didn't have to be up at 9am. *sigh*

Started the day by finding mom in an incredibly foul mood. She read the poem I wrote her, and set it aside without a word before launching into a bitchfest about the fact that I haven't done anything around the house this week (when I've put in over 80 hours). Went to work upset, and it went downhill from there.

Drove home through lightning strikes less than 30 yards from my car for a record-breaking third night in a row after doing two shows and a loadout. icon_eek.gif help.gif icon_eek.gif help.gif

Now drinking. Heavily.

wow-- that had to be frightful, Beth. Maybe mother nature thought you needed a little help staying awake? icon_cool.gif

-hooked Wdoll up with the knowledge for free highspeed internet access for his trip up and down the East Coast.

<darn shame I was on vacation LAST week, mate- I'd come to Raleigh and hang if I could>

-yesterday <and Saturday>: on and off, spent the day packing stuff in my "GeekRoom". It's JUST starting to look like I'm making progress--- after having packed no less than 10 boxes full of stuff <to be honest, though, one of those boxes was clothes I'd sorted through>.

It will be SO NICE to have a garage. The biggest occupier of space in the GeekRoom is my RC gear. I've been into RC since I was about 8 years old-- and have been something of a repository for gear from friends who got out of the hobby over the years. So I am pushing 40 cars, 6 boats, 2 helos, 9 planes in varying stages of assembly. My first project for the new house: shelves around he circumference of the garage, up high enough to be out of reach without a stepladder. Present homeowner already has pegboard put up on one wall, so my tools should FINALLY be organized. Which means that my mechanical projects will take about 1/3 the time in the near future as I will not have to search for every freakin' tool. Going to do the "put up a peg and outline the tool and label inside the outline" thing.

15/32 spanner? BAM! Right there.
Did I leave anything under the hood? Look at the board- there's a 7/16 socket missing

Things that will truly SUCK to move:

-front and rear Dana 44's out of an 87 Wagoneer, destined for the 89 Blazer Solid Axle Swap <soon, very soon, I shall have the swap done-- after 5 years of R&D and planning!>

-all the model airplanes- built the wings for most of them as one piece, and they're mostly 2 meter sailplanes <78" wing> with one .40 size trainer. The foam combat wings are built for punishment, so they're not going to be difficult

-mirrors. Wife has this thing about them. Maybe I can convince her to put that mirror wall in the bedroom... thumbup.gif yes.gif cocky.gif wheeeeeh.gif icon_twisted.gif

-tools. Not so much difficult to move, as scattered everywhere and sure to take a half-day to sort

Woke up early for me (8 AM). Trying to get ready for my job that starts next Monday. Spent all day coding a 3d to 2d coordinate converting program only to realize that it doesn't work right. Everything is coded correctly as far as I can see but moving the camera in on the Z axis does nothing and Y moves like Z. Go figure. Tomorrow I will spend all day coding translation and rotation functions and forget about having a camera. Hopefully will have some time tonight or tomorrow to work on creating my blog software.

-talked with Sprint for about the 35th time since we got these fscking phones abot the bill. Informed them - for the 35th time- that they want to talk to the owner of the account- my company- and NOT me, since it's a Corporate-backed account.

Ironic: when I lost signal and hit redial, the robobrain told me "this is a corporate-backed account, and you should send any questions about the service or payment to your companie's telecommunications manager". Gee, no shit???!!

- will be talking with Sprint again this evening. This time on a personal matter- it seems that the final bill I had when I cancelled my personal service with them 3 years ago, and which I paid in full at the time and then found out a year later was on my credit as a collectons account <WTF? How many fucking times I gotta pay them!?> and so paid AGAIN as I couldn't find the blinkin' receipt- is STILL showing up as unpaid. Stupid sonofabitches.... aren't they being sued presently for creative billing tendencies? <The whole reason I left them originally, other than sketchy "Service" was because they had a habit of charging me for extra airtime when I'd not even used half of my allotted daytime minutes over the course of the whole month in the first place!>

Oh, how I'd LOVE to see Sprint suck the big one and collapse from the top down!
Bubba
