Woke up at 10:40. Looked at the clock again. Looked at the clock on my phone. Checked to see what my alarm was set for, being that it was off. Discovered it was 6:00, which is when I had to be up yesterday, as opposed to 7:00, which is when I had to be up today. Cursed like a career military man for about five minutes.

Had an executive board meeting at 9am. Had a general membership meeting at 10am. I'm the recording secretary.

Not a good way to start my day.

Well, at least the nerds won't be out...unless they just want the free food. The nerds will know everything about AMD64 anyway and won't feel the need to go!!

Ordered a new mixer

KitchenAid Professional 6-Quart Stand Mixers

Driven by a potent 525-watt motor, KitchenAid's largest, most powerful mixer can handle even stiff, heavy mixtures, and the 6-quart stainless steel bowl is large enough for double batches of cookie dough.
• Rugged all-metal construction for long life and stable operation.
• Soft Start helps prevent ingredient splashout at startup.
• Planetary mixing action moves the beater clockwise and the shaft counterclockwise, so ingredients are thoroughly mixed without frequent scraping or rotating the bowl.
• Comes with a burnished metal flat beater and dough hook, a wire whip, and a clear two-piece pouring shield with enlarged chute for easy addition of ingredients.
• Just flip up the hinged hub cover to install attachments.
• Bowl is dishwasher safe. Seamless housing wipes clean easily. Wire whip, flat beater, and dough hooks should be hand washed.
• 11.25"W x 14.5"D x 16.5"H.
• Made in the USA.

Not much today really. The classroom we're supposed to tear into now was still occupied - apparently Marines can't get the clue when we tell them to pick up their sh!t and move into the classroom right next door.

Oh well - they won't be in tomorrow, and imagine their surprise when they come in Monday morning to an empty classroom. No computers, no desks, no nuthin'.

decided it wouldn't be the worst idea ever to emulate WD here shortly. Wife's been talking about a garden of her own for years.... now's the time!!

-laid down just for a minute, to have my son walk on my back before I went outside to wire in a trailer harness on my Jeep and the wife's Jeep. Woke up 2 hours later. Pfeh!

- now trying to convince my 3 year old that if he goes to sleep I'll have a surprise for him in the morning <of course, being my son, he wants to know EXACTLY what this surprise will be>, and the little scratch on his elbow isn't going to get worse as he sleeps. Also trying to relate to him that he will have his own bedroom soon <actually, he already does, but the wife never makes it an issue since my travel schedule means I am often not home> and needs to learn to be a big brave boy and go to sleep in his own room. Ah well-- there are worse problems a 3 year old can give you than wanting to cuddle all the time.

ohyeah- this evening when I got home <the wife and kid had already gotten home, as I had to go drop off the change of address form and inquire about availability of a trailer for moving> my son had apparently been into one of the boxes that weren't taped up yet and gotten the air mattress bellows air pump. He had figured out how to use it- handle on the ground, feet on the stirrups, and pump the main body up and down> and had the air hose in his mouth.... I called the wife over and asked-

me: "son-- what are you doing?"
Wil: ::pumping like mad:: "Daddy!!! I'm getting BIGGER!!!"

it was a good minute or two before we could breathe properly, we were laughing so hard

Day went downhill from where I was. Did the first show, and all four of my girls blew out part of their costumes at some point, so I had to quick repair them before they could go onstage.

Went to dinner, discovered I was too early to have an actual dinner, so had to sit there for 40 minutes until I could get something other than an appetizer.

Did the second show, during which I found out that the underground parking ramp as well as the elevators leading to it were flooded. Only about six inches of water, but one never knows where it's going to stop. Luckily, it held at six inches so we could all get to our cars via the stairway and drive away quickly after the show.

Discovered on my way home that the main route I take is now closed due to flooding, so had to backtrack and detour about six blocks out of my way to get home.

The river crests tomorrow afternoon, according to the weather guessers....

Since I got my brakes done, what did I do...

Made some lunch, took a nap, dug up some wild yellow roses, took a shower, discovered MY chiropracter no longer works on Fridays (his partner does instead) so walked away from my appointment with plans to bitch him out on Tuesday (my rescheduled appointment), went to work, got rid of the roses I dug up, did a ton of ironing, did a show, went to the bar, got myself in WAY over my head, ran home to hide.

Went to work, did a bunch of ironing and then a show. During the show, I read about 250 pages of my book (yeah, I'm really that busy on this one).

After the show, tried to go out for dinner, but there was a 45 minute wait for a table for one with no preference as to smoking or non. icon_rolleyes.gif

Came home, had a tuna salad sandwich and some potato salad. Have to go back to work in an hour.
