Did an 11-ish hour day at Festival. Got tipsy sitting with the owner of my bar (who I'd never actually held a conversation with before, but he was buying, and who am I to argue? icon_wink.gif )

Wondered why exactly it is that beer gets me drunker than my usual hard liquor.....

Same here, the girls and the cats hide in a corner while I gawp out of the window.

it didn't even phase him.

Yet, turn on the vacuum, and he runs to the opposite corner of the building, screaming like a banshee.

 wierd child. Must be mine...

Went over to my Grandma's apartment with my dad so we could finish setting up her computer. Stinks like ass in that damn place. 8.gif

Trying to crank up an old rejected PC to run Mandrake and couldn't get it to work on network....oh well that for another day.....
Demon
Delayed lunch with a friend so I could help HK babysit. Her friend is moving today and the children have developmental problems, the older one has autism and the younger one is developmentally slow. Very good kids, their mom is nice and works with other children, her husband recently was rotated to Iraq, gunner in an Abrams.
Felix4067
Got up late, trying to kickstart my day with some coffee before heading back downtown until around 2:30am again.
Bubba
Started to watch the Cubs game on TV but was falling asleep. I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night. Now I'm waiting to hear back from a friend. Probably going to go over to Zim's house today.

Got woke up at 0445 this morning to quite a bit of commotion out in back. It seems the neighbor's tree grew into the power lines, and they finally shorted out. Was quite the light show.
Mister 4x4
So far - not a damn thing. Kinda needed a day like that too.
Varthlokkur
Went to a 4 year olds birthday party.

Best wishes to all of them. My wife works with developmentally challenged children, specializing with autism. It takes a rare sort to be able to deal with that every day. <I couldn't do it... hell, I can't deal with normal adults!>

Thoughts go out to them, and especially the father.
burntkat
-not much of a thing. Hooked the wife's computer up to the network <had already planned to do it today, but after she offered a..err.. "bribe"... I couldn't resist.. icon_wink.gif >

-threw out the old reefer and will take it to the dump tomorrow- as well as the crap the previous owners left in the back yard <bags of pool sand, steel studs for a wall, tires, etc. WTF??>.

-Scoped out the network drops for my son's room and the living room, planning how I'll run them. At this point I am strongly considering running them the way telephone companies often do- around the outside at the bottom of the siding with proper strain reliefs and clamps every 5', with a drip loop and grommet, drilled and sealed through the siding. Once I repaint, you'll never know they're there. The alternative is a real bear, as these are exterior walls and therefore full of insulation <and a real @#$% to fish wires down, as I learned in my security installation days!>. Install a jack in a faceplate, a cheap 10/100 Linksys switch off of that, and we're golden. I'm also debating on running a couple drops to the garage and installing a few surplus rack-mount switches there. While I'm at this, going to wire the living room for sound as well.

-physically installed the Mixture gauge in my Jeep, and will do the wiring tomorrow. Ditto the tach for my Blazer.

-ohyeah- actually got something productive done today: cut the grass! Didnt take but about an hour, and the back yard has about 1/3 left- see the first part for why I didn't do it all. Soon as I get all that crap out of the way, I'll get some filldirt and level out the holes in the back yard <nothing terrible-- just a couple that are big enough to put a 4 year old on his face if he's not watching what he's doing-- and what 4 year old watches what he's doing? Hell.. I don't half the time!>

Went downtown, walked about for a bit eating and listening to some halfway decent bands. Met at Stage 7 for some adult beverages (there are six stages icon_wink.gif ). Cranked up my lighting towers, waited for it to get a bit darker. Turned on all the lights. Waited for curfew and for the sound guys to pack up their gear before turning off my lights and rolling up all the cable in a pre-loadout kinda thing.

Finally made it to the after-party behind the main stage just in time to snag the last piece of pizza and a frosty adult beverage. Realized I was dead tired and just wanted to go home. Walked the two blocks to my car only to find it wouldn't start. Got a jump from a friend...not the problem. Apparently, it's the solenoid.

Walked the two blocks back to the after party to hook up with friends so we could do a HUGE car shuffle. Drove one guy's truck to drop of another guy at his house so he could get his truck out of his parking garage (he only has one key card, and it's what gets him in the building as well as parking). Drove to the bar with the first guy's truck to give him the keys. Second guy got there, I took his truck home. He lives a block from the bar right downtown, so that's no thing for him.

Got in and the gauge was on E. Had no idea WTF side the thing is on, so played the odds and drove home hoping for the best. Got here, we'll see if I can get to the gas station in the morning. Discovered upon pulling into my driveway that an Envoy XUV is about 9x taller than my car, and damn near took out a tree I normally drive under to park. Hopefully there aren't any scratches in the paint.

Now drinking tequila from the bottle.

I went to work, sucked as usual, came back, worked on a song in progress, sent it to some friends, one said it was cool, the other liked it more... and then here I am, 2 am, still contemplating whether to continue the song, or play UT 2004.

The game will probably win... I love Onslaught.
Demon
Woke up, making shopping list.
Felix4067
Got up. Discovered I didn't dream the car thing. Contemplated more tequila.
Demon
It's too early for tequila, try vodka.
Felix4067
Unfortunately, I'll have to skip both. I've got to go to work in a bit here.
Demon
And you don't drink before work because.... ?
Felix4067
I'm dealing with 220v electricity, wiring, and heavy equipment.
Demon
Right, your point?
Felix4067
I prefer not to die while working.

Sorry...I'm just not amused today.

Missed horribly with some humor.

<Stenorian tones.> JEGS </Stentorian tones.> LOL. Gotta love those commercials during NHRA races. icon_smile.gif

Never seen 'em.

I just go there to look for parts I have trouble finding locally- and just found out that the gauge cup <Autometer pn# 2204> I paid $19 for at the local speed shop is priced about $13 at Jegs. So I had them send me 3 of them. Buy two, get one free, way I see it. I'll probably make another order for 3 more in the near future as well, but they aren't needed right now. I'm putting tacho, Air/fuel, vacuum, and tranny temp gauges in the Blazer, and the same less tacho <comes factory> in my XJ. Debating on an ammeter, but the only ones I've seen only go to 60 amps + and -.. and a good hefty pull from my winch would pretty much nacker that.

The one I bought locally would be going back if it hadn't been shrink-packed. Kinda hard to return it when the packaging is ripped to hell.

Typed a long response here and hit the wrong damn key and deleted the entire thing. icon_rolleyes.gif

Was curious, however, about Amanda's night, since she evidently did not wake up or breakfast at home.... icon_wink.gif
