Woke up to find my brother-in-law mowing the lawn again, so I played with my nephew for a while since he was here, too.
Now killing time until I can leave for my contract negotiation meeting, which is gonna be UGLY.

Went to my negotiation, which actually went a LOT better than anticipated. We basically got all the easy stuff out of the way and didn't even deal with the hard issues. Management is supposed to get us a proposal by lunch tomorrow, and then we have another meeting Wednesday morning.
My car still starts...but reluctantly. Oh yeah...that was the part I accidentally deleted last night... My car started on Sunday out of nowhere, no more clicking. But every time I start it, it grinds a little more before finally giving in. I have an appointment in the morning for diagnostics, which hopefully will reveal something stupid like a loose bolt and not something expensive.
And here I thought all the rumours about cars right after you pay them off were just old wives' tales...

negative.
Clicking and occasional cranking would suggest the starter SOLENOID.
Which, yeah, on a GM product, you might as well replace the whole damn starter, since it's bolted to it. But if you want to live dangerously you can replace just the solenoid.. then pray the motor doesn't go bad too...

Got up at dark-thirty only to realize I never made arrangements for a ride AWAY from the repair shop where I have to drop off the car this morning. Guess I'll have to swing by an ATM so I can spend $20 on a cab ride home.

Actually had breakfast, since I woke up hungry for some odd reason.
Confirmed for myself that the pollen levels are HIGH today, although I knew that when I felt like my face was stuffed with wet cotton. *sigh*

Now, I'm reserving judgment until I find out what's wrong with my car and how much it'll cost me to deal with it. BUT...they already get triple bonus points for driving me home, and offering to pick me up later, all at no cost. My house is nothing like anywhere near their shop.
(I'm trying a new place on the recommendation of the guy that did my body work in January, and who is doing my mom's body work even as I type.)
Spent 4 hours in a cool AC'd office in a meeting about photocopiers

-continued fighting my laptop. Seems I got a copy of Sasser somehow, and am going roundybout with it. Of course, it's NOT being easy...
- remembered I have a Jeep club meeting tonight. Wonder if I'll forget between now and 7pm like I usually do?
- now listening to the rain and thunder, and wondering how fast the grass grows at teh new house, since I just cut it Sunday
-found out that even though Friday is a national day of mourning and federal employees and most contractors have the day off, my PE considers us "vital to the mission". So I get to come in Friday and sit in the lab and do nothing. :eyeroll: Getting tired of their being nothing to do in the lab every day. I've asked everyone upstream of me if there's anything to be done, and they all tell me to train. Shit, I can do that at home!

Holy crap!!!! 90C???????????????????????
Are your brains boiling inside your head?
(90 degrees Celsius equals 194 degrees Fahrenheit)
I've just found out it's my battery, and not anything else like the starter, or solenoid, or anything else. BUT...because the engine compartment of my car is so freaken STUPID and hard to deal with (the battery is under the windshield washer fluid reservoir, which is held in place by a strip of steel bolted to the frame), it's gonna cost me a whole pile of money.
