Like when you're on the can?

Just had a flashback from the past when I saw someone I knew about 8 years go signed up at another site.

On the can? Dunno what yer on aboot!

You wouldn't take your laptop with you to the can to access the Internet?

I am craving lemon meringue pie and the rest of the day off right now. Oh, and I felt a bump on my leg. Boooo.

Woke up at dark-thirty because the idiots had gotten the line to get into the show ALL the way through the campground to outside my tent. Laid there until my alarm actually went off at 5:15am. Loaded in a whole big huge pile of country acts, while changing over between bands as necessary.

After my shift was done, drove home, went through 127 email messages (not ONE of which was a virus, I about fell over!) in my news account, then posted news.

Going to take a shower and a nap soon, then get ready for my class reunion. After which I'll take the trash out (hoping raccoons don't get into it before Monday morning) and drive back to the fairgrounds to catch some sleep in my tent before doing the rock day tomorrow.

I got sunburned yesterday. Sweated off my sunblock. icon_cry.gif

Sweated.
Dreading having to do a relay today.

Sent a nasty email to a web host. I ordered Wednesday night. I have been approved twice. Been told my account would become active in 3 to 6 hours. That was about 24 hours ago. F*cking bastards. This is not the type of service I would except from on of the top ten rated web hosts.

-went to a friend of my son's 4th birthday party.

-realized that tomorrow is Father's Day, as well as the already-known-to-me 4th bday for my son

-got a call on the way to the party from a Jeep buddy wondering if I could weld his axle skidplates on today. Sure, no worries- meet me at the house at 3 <still get a kick out of telling folks to meet me at my house, drop by the house, etc>. Welded them up <pretty damn good beads, if I do say so myself> and in exchange received about 20 pounds of venison and an identical set of the braces to the ones welded to his axle, for mine. He brougth a buddy who happened to be a welder and he looked at my welds and said there was no problem with them. I rule icon_cool.gif

-decided to buy the wife 30 pair of white ankle-length socks tomorrow <see the Something to Vent thread to find out why>

Was going to work today but looks like thunder showers shortly. Sigh. I guess I'll have to settle for reading, doing my spiritual fashizzle, exercises and a few diskes. Hope to squeeze a nice bike ride in there, somehow. Oh, yeah, and do some writing. I made a promise to someone and by God, I'm going to keep it. 165 pages by July 16th. icon_smile.gif

Yesterday I put a wireless high speed network in my parents beach house. Today I have been trimming the hedges there. My wife and kids should be here shortly and we can get on with Fathers Day at the beach! Woo Hoo! What a great place this is. Seven bedrooms on the beach with a golf course accross the street! Today, I am hurting all over...icon_cry.gif Last night, I participated in the Easter Seals 24 hour relay, but I was only there for about 4-5 hours...did two stints of running. Everyone kept telling me each lap was 2.5 km, but it was really 2.5 miles. That was the most running I"d done all year.

-cut the back yard. Not just cut it, sorted a bunch of stuff that was still in the way from the previous owners <pool sand, lumber, bricks, etc> and did the whole bit- weed eating, treating anthills, etc. Even found one hole in the ground under what used to be a lumber pile that I suspect may be some sort of animal's burrow <will be taking care of that soon enough>.

-made a Lowe's list for tomorrow: dursban, broadcast spreader, a few new outlets, switches, and switchplates, couple of Cat5 jacks and plates, possibly a replacement head for the weedeater as this one is a poor design and jams all the time, investigate how to make the plumbing fixtures in the baths more sturdy- they move back and forth a bit when you actuate them.. probably just a matter of tightening a large nut on the valvebody, and probably a load of 2X4's to build shelves in the garden shed to help organize the place a bit.

- no less than 4 times today, my son has gone running off to my wife, screaming bloody murder that I hit him. This has happened 3 times previously this week- and the most severe thing I did the entire time has been pointing at him to make a point while scolding him about his behaviour in a store. To whit: I most certainly have NOT hit him. Wife just came in wondering if I'd hit him as he told her I had. Told him he's on notice that the next time he lies, he will actually get a spanking. I'm not one to beat a child, but nothing shows a kid they're screwing up like a stinging behind- that I remember from firsthand experience in my younger days. Never in anger, and never full force, but something to show a child they need to correct their ways. Hell, it worked for me, and I was quite the headstrong little bastard... icon_wink.gif

CAME HOME!!!! dance.gif No more living in a tent for a while. It got COLD the last two nights, didn't like it one bit.

Walked in the door to discover that no one had been here while I was gone, which is a very good thing. Also no messages from anyone saying they'd come across my laptop, which is a bad thing.

Now attempting to wash a load of clothes from the last five days, which are filthy. They've come clean before, hopefully they will again. It never fails to amaze me what working at the fairgrounds will do to clothes. icon_lol.gif

buying your first one?

I just recently bought my first house. What an adventure!

-opened up a checking account today, first one I've had in my own name in about 7 years. Upon doing so, was also offered a credit card- not a debit card linked to the checking account but an actual credit card.

"Thanks, but no thanks".

But it's good to see- what with having obtained a mortgage with darn near NO jumping through hoops and now this <our bank is notoriously tight with priveleges such as checking accounts, ATM cards, and the like> it is comforting to know that I've proceede a long way away from the situation I got myself in when I was young and dumb and... well... icon_wink.gif....

Now if I can just keep myself away from the Jeep dealership. I drove a friend's Jeep TJ Rubicon with about 3" lift this weekend after welding skids to his axles. NICE rig. I'd love to have one. Just have to keep reminding myself that the $25,000 they want for one will go VERY far towards bulletproofing my drivetrain <Dana 44 axles>, quieting the interior <MASSIVE coats of rubber roll roofing, Durabak, and a marine-grade carpet kit>, and the like- with about 20G left over. Plus, I don't have to pay someone to drive it every month.

as far as the ability to go topless with the vehicle-- I have a sawzall, a welder, and now have the room to install and use a manual tube bender- I'm a couple weekends away from a topless XJ with a canvas softtop if that should ever start looking like a necessity... icon_wink.gif

Returned to work... no immediate murders but I did start the paperwork to dismiss my direct reports. When three other managers all approach you with detailed information how your department could not function while you're away - the decision makes itself.

so- you want I should overnight you the Katana?

The two-handed flambergee is MUCH more menacing, being 7' long and all... and it comes in handy when they try to run, too...

Apparently I took a nap this afternoon... icon_lol.gif

Cooked the remainder of the food in my cooler from the weekend (grillin' in the rain, gotta love it!) so it wouldn't go bad, unpacked the bare necessities from the car. Cursed the rain. Decided to take mom's car to my meetings tomorrow and leave mine here, since it's still full of camping gear I'm not going to bother to unpack until it stops pouring.
