Discovered I'm out of coffee. Now debating which is the lesser of two evils...going to I-Hop for breakfast, or having to drink the swill from the grocery store. icon_cry.gif

Ordered more coffee, will be here Wednesday.

Swill, swill, swill!!!!

It's good to have crap every now and again so we can appreciate quality.

I can't do either one. I'm gonna go get in the car and drive downtown for the good stuff from the bagel shop. (yes, it is worth my driving 11 miles round trip for decent coffee...I'll most likely do it tomorrow as well)
Demon
Slacker.

lol
Felix4067
Maybe so...but I got good coffee! icon_lol.gif They even have a drive-thru window, so I didn't have to worry about the fact that I forgot to put on shoes (I was wearing my slippers). icon_biggrin.gif

HK has a pair of "Gossamer" slippers I bought her from the Warner Borthers store that she won't through out... I know what you mean.

Mean while I've cut my grass and whacked my weeds, next is laundry after a cook-out for lunch.

went wheeling yesterday and nearly rolled my XJ. At one point all I could see on a particularly tough hill was blue sky. Tried to show up the short wheelbase guys, but with the sagging front of my suspension <due to 200 pounds of bumper and winch on it> that didn't work out so well! Made the climb up past where the SWB guys got stuck, but my skidplate got stuck on the berm just as my frotn tires crested the edge. Solution: get teh front end back up where it belongs with lift springs, and build a flat crossmember to take the place of the factory angled bash plate.

today: nada. Been pretty lazy, going to cut the grass shortly and get to doing home improvement type stuff.

Wal-Mart has a multipack for $9.99...

Woke up. Came downstairs to find Josh making blueberry muffins for me. Ate. Watched some TV. Made a list of all our wedding presents so I could FINALLY start putting them away. He left to go get more of his stuff from his parent's house. I put away said wedding gifts, mopped the foyer, kitchen, family room, Man Cave bathroom and master bathroom. Brushed Samantha.

Now I'm thinking about what to make for dinner. So far, grilling some burgers is in the lead.
Demon
If you like teriyaki, marinate the burgers in that for 5 minutes before grilling.
Mrs. Spike
That sounds great... if I had teriyaki stuff. icon_cry.gif
Demon
You still need that shopping list?
Mrs. Spike
No, I just need to pick up things here and there now. I've got stuff in the pantry and freezer/refrigerator to do stuff with, just nothing fancy yet. I would have, but we really needed sheets and towels so we'll deal with not-so-fancy food in the meantime...

I will take any suggestions anyone may have for things to pick up when I run to the store though. icon_smile.gif
gandalfthewizard
But did you get beer?
Mrs. Spike
NO, we still have 30 or so cans/bottles of the crap cluttering up my fridge!

Felt very ill right before dinner, abdominal cramps and nauseous. Ate and it went away a little.

Discovered that for the low low price of $1049, I can get the Toshiba laptop of my dreams... Well, except for the part where they no longer include floppy drives, and they also don't have the eraser thingy for the mouse.

Now, to come up with an extra $1049 in the slowest work season of the year...

You can get external floppy drives icon_mrgreen.gif TDK has 'em...apparently they sell quite well icon_lol.gif

no floppy drive? Big deal-- they're unstable and obsolete anyway. Buy a $15 64 meg USB thumbdrive from Tigerdirect and be done with it. WONDERFUL things!!!!!

If you really must have a floppy, get a USB one. About the same price.

Check out www.dellauctions.com for good deals on laptops, too. I recall seeing 750MHz box over there with a 40 gig drive for about $230. SERIOUSLY considering buying one and throwing Unix on it for travel.

As far as the eraser thingy for the mouse- not having it is a feature, not a flaw. Those things SUCK! Can't tell you how often I'd accidentally highlight pages of text and lose them all due to that POS....

EDIT: it's Unix, not Unnix, dummy....

I suppose I don't have to have a floppy drive, but I do have quite a large amount of data from my old laptop on floppy, since it didn't have a CD burner. Seems silly to download it all to my desktop, burn a disk, and then download it to the new laptop. The external USB ones I was looking at are in the $40 to $50 range. I'm sure there are cheaper ones available, though, since the only places I looked were the Dell and Toshiba websites.

I thought about getting one either from the auctions or from eBay, but since I found out I can get nine times the machine I used to have for $500 less than I paid for the old one, I'm thinking I'll just get a new one. It was on my list of things to do sometime in the near future, anyway. I'm close on the money, I just have to work a couple more shows.

I know a lot of people who hate the eraser thingy...but I love it. We've always played well together. What I hate are those godforsaken touchpad things. Especially the ones where if you rub your finger across it, it moves the mouse, but if you tap it once or twice it's a right click or left click or some such nonsense. I ALWAYS end up doing something I don't want to do with those. Guess I'll have to retrain myself.

so put the floppy in the desktop, suckl the info off, put it on a tumbdrive, and move it all at once.

You're probably going to find half of your floppy backups are corrupt, anyway. That's what I found recently when I was trying to get some info off of a bunch of floppies I had saved <for god only knows what reason>. Threw them all away after the 15th-in-a-row dead disk.

cheap USB floppy drives did a quick search on tigerdirect. Looks like $50 is about right. Screw that!! Take 30 minutes outta your life and do the above icon_wink.gif

Made a HUGE vat of spaghetti for dinner (got a little carried away on how much pasta I stuck in the water because I was on the phone icon_rolleyes.gif ). Sat in the living room thinking how much easier it is to have "quality time" with mom when I have a laptop to do stuff on at the same time. Applied for and was denied a Toshiba charge card. icon_cry.gif

Discovered the laptop I thought I wanted is actually a step down from the other one...except the better one isn't in stock and the not-as-good one is. icon_confused.gif Trying to decide if it's worth waiting for a little faster memory and a bigger hard drive, when I know I won't use 1/20 of the hard drive. The smaller one is 40 gig, the bigger one is 60. I have a 40 gig in my desktop, and after three years I'm using something like 3 gig, maybe 4.

Now going to make some hot cocoa and try to sleep, because the meetings start again tomorrow morning.

Dragged feet until the last possible second because I did NOT feel like having a pre-meeting meeting, a meeting, and a post-meeting meeting.

Got to the office in time to miss the pre-meeting. thumbup1.gif Got to the actual meeting to find out that the general manager's secretary never wrote down that we had one this morning, so he's not in the building. dance.gif dance.gif dance.gif

Of course...the contract expires tomorrow, which opens a whole host of other problems...but...I got out of two meetings today! icon_biggrin.gif

Got up at 3am when Samantha smushed her cold, wet nose on my warm, dry one so I would let her out. Wrote Josh a note telling him to start letting her out before he comes to bed so she doesn't keep waking me up in the middle of the night. Got up at 6am, showered, dressed, etc., ate a nasty piece of raisin toast (stay away from Thomas' toastables or whatever it's called). Came in to work, got a new wedding pic and sent it around 'cause I absolutely LOVED it, added a crap load of names to a mailing list, witnessed my boss get into an argument and totally obliterate the idiot that started it with him.

I'm going to work on the mailing list for 3 more hours and head out of here, so I can get home in time to start preparing food for my mom's birthday cookout.
amandabobanda
Both my alarm clocks failed me. Was late for my appointment at the gym. Came to work. Got a phone call from my mom meaning there will be more poo to come. Greaaat.

I had a bonus grocery shopping trip! I went there with a list of four things we needed, but hadn't seen the ad. So I picked one up and quick browsed it, adding a few things we could use because they're on sale.

I got NINE bags of groceries (those annoying plastic ones) for $65.87!!!!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif Plus 2 gallons of milk and a watermelon that weren't in bags. dance.gif

I love when that happens. icon_biggrin.gif

NOT happy.

Made muffins. Made coffee. Fed the baby. Ate muffins. Drank coffee. Showered. Got dressed up for meeting with atty. Visited forums. Talked to sis-in-law. Talked to bank. Listened to Star Trek.

Now I have a pile of documents to go through preparatory to my meeting.

woopee.

And we're back...
Pre-meeting meeting.
Contract negotiation meeting.
Post-meeting meeting.

Found out that the work call today would've gotten to me had I not been negotiating the contract, so I can file for lost wages. It's good to have money coming in without having to work for it...I think... On the other hand, I was working, just not building a stage in the middle of a field at the ski resort...hmmm... Anyway, I didn't lose out on money by going to the meeting, that's the point.

Talked to my sister on the phone, she's coming over with the family for dinner tomorrow night. I get to plan a menu! icon_biggrin.gif dance.gif
