Went to work. Spent just shy of five hours putting up pipe and drape to define the divisions between booths at a trade show. Lunch. Spent the rest of the afternoon doling out tables, chairs, stools, etc. to the booths.

Came to the conclusion that the "new and improved" insoles from Red Wing suck donkey a$$. I'll be returning them tomorrow. By the time I got home, my feet hurt so badly I literally came in, sat down, and bawled like a baby for about fifteen minutes.

But I'm DONE for just over two weeks! We cancelled Friday's meeting, and my business agent (our lead negotiator) is flying to L.A. for eight days on Saturday. The day he gets back, 2 of their 3 negotiators flies out for a few days. Our next scheduled meeting is July 30!

What I should have done, however, was yard work, since it's going to rain like mad tomorrow. Oh well.

Time to pack and go out for breakfast and then drive off to the mountains!!

Worked, went to the bank and had a good whinge, worked some more.

nearly called WD at 11pm local just to say "hi"....

then realized I'd done my math backwards, and that would have been 2am.....

Looked over resumes all day and will interview on Monday the first batch of potential nurses to assume the horrific position of Dr. Montgomery's nurse.

Got up at ungodly early for me (8:30am) for no apparent reason.
After breakfast, took a nap since I'd gotten up ungodly early for no apparent reason.
Went to the mall where I fended off an entirely too pushy woman selling hand cream or some such nonsense (actually had to tell her to stay the hell away from me, in those words).
Bought my niece one of those electricity globes (you know, the ones that change when you touch them?) for her 9th birthday, thus ensuring I get "coolest aunt" points again this year.
Got my car washed to try to remove where some dipsh!t punk wrote "Slayer" in the condensation/dust on my hood...and found that because the hood has never been finish painted, it didn't go away. Will attempt to hand-buff it out this weekend.
Went to Gordon Food Service and bought the stuff to make Ralf's olive salad for the party tomorrow.

Now avoiding making said salad by playing around online.

Woke up at 5:30 due to a phone call from our oldest. She had a sleep-over last night and apparently wanted to talk...

Been up since.

Wrapped birthday presents and put the olive salad into bowls...discovered that I made WAY the hell too much salad, and have enough to feed the entire neighbourhood.

Dealt with the fact that mom is being juvenile about us having the birthday hoopla on my niece's actual birthday this year, since mom usually does her party with her on the actual day. Mom feels put out because we're celebrating with dad this year.

About to go early so I can "help"...which is really desperation-talk for "get me the hell away from this woman who after being divorced for more years than she was married STILL has issues with any of us spending time with our dad."

Found out that above mentioned phone call was strictly for me... the little darling missed her dad.

Played golf, watched golf on the telly.

Went to my sister's house, hung out with my family all day. Which involved tossing kids around in the pool, eating some darn fine food (we are a family of cooks suddenly, it's very weird), playing games with my niece (it was her birthday today, so she got to get spoiled) and coming to the conclusion that my oldest niece's roommate (a guy) is hitting on me subtly but surely.

Came home, meant to go to the bar, but could not get enough motivation to put my shoes back on, so here I sit at the computer doing nothing.

Woke at 9:10AM... this is going to be a weird day, I already feel "dirty" for sleeping in.

If you slept in there was a good reason for it. Let it go, Wd.


Woke at 6, wishing I could have slept in, cleaned up the apartment including the cat's area, fed Evelyn, did my laundry talked to an aqquaintance in the block. Lit my tea candle (rain) which smells lovely. And it is raining so no work for a while. Going to pick up a set of good headphones (the earbuds suck and aren't comfortable for my ears) for my new personal MP3 player, a Sony D-NF400 with am, fm, weather and tv audio. It's pretty neat and fairly configurable. Also, pick up a AC/DC converter for it and set up my Benwin comp speakers in the LR area so I can have a rudimentary sound system there.

Went food shopping... now waiting for brunch. Apparently NJ will be hit with a good deal of rain today. Will inspect the sump pumps after meal.

I'm just...restless. I have no motivation, haven't had the attention span of a gnat on crack all day.

Got up, got online. Made breakfast. Talked to mom for a bit, then she went to grandma's. Watched some TV. Did a couple of word search puzzles. Looked up some recipes for my niece. Thought about lunch, and didn't feel like it, so I munched on some 'Nilla wafers instead. Watched some more TV, or was it really flipping through channels watching 2 minutes of everything that's on? Got online periodically, hoping for amusement.

Restless but with no energy or motivation. That's the theme for today.

Got up around 1030. Grabbed some breakfast. Surfed a bit. Replied to a couple of e-mails. Discussed the possibility of building a new machine for/with the wife. I've still got to get that machine loaded for my friend... which is giving me all sorts of crap - but I'm dreading it. (The machine... not the friend)

Made pork chops fricasse style... got completely caught up in the endeavor. Wonder how it's going to taste...

Spent the day on the sofa watching golf and eating snacks.

Picked up a new set of headphones for the MP3 player. And a carrying case that came with a belt. Unfortunately the multi head ac/dc converter has 6 heads and all 6 don't fricking fit. Arghhhhh. What "bleep bleep." Mowed Mom's lawn, it was only 88F with 60% humidity or something to that effect. No problem.

Came home...hungry and exhausted.

So I was away this weekend visiting my best friend (who lives at a ski resort - mind you it's summertime now and it's mostly mountain biking)...I didn't get much sleep.

Strictly today:

2:15 am - left the bar and walked some of the girls to their car
2:30 am - went to a "party" at a house rented by like 10 guys
3:30 am - left the "party"; went home (just a few houses down) and got ready for bed
4:00 am - climbed into bed (well, sofa...)
4:15 am - door bell rings *crash*
shortly thereafter...best friend's fiance goes out the door to have a few words with the door bell ringer (who was one of the guys renting the house)
4:30 am - went to bed
6:30? 7? am - woke up when best friend went to work
8:30? am - woke up when best friend came back from work
9:30 am - ate breakfast and packed, etc.
11 am - on the road
3 pm - sitting in bumper to bumper traffic going 20 km/hour in a 100 zone
4:30 pm - arrive home, make phone calls, shower...try to nap but too hungry

Found out that Arlo Guthrie and Judy Collins are playing together August 12, and John Prine and Leon Redbone are playing together August 20 at the Meijer Gardens . And I probably can't go to either one.

Tickets for the first are $46.00 each, tickets for the second are $45.00 each. Which is really very reasonable, just not in my summertime "I only work one day a week at best" budget. Especially when I still have to come up with some spending money for Buffett on August 28.

Some damn good golf as well, though some of it reminded me of my game (all the bad shots....)



anyhoo, spent sunday either driving about to places looking for stuff, then watched the golf, TV and playing max payne 2....

Stripped bed, cleaned up cat area, changed her water, had my coffee, organized materials for work, review properties for work. Rounded up quarters and soap/softener sheets for laundry this evening, going to make breakfast and lunch both. Oh, and shave/shower. Pretty standard fare.

Picked up 3 DVD's for £4. Blade Runner, 2010, and Contact. I'd have paid a fiver for Blade Runner alone.....

Called the doctor. Picked at some of the scabbed over poison oak wounds (yes yes, I know - not a good thing to do). Dabbed some of the wounds that are seeping. Complained about feeling so damn crappy. Scratched my forehead. Looked in the mirror with disgust. Prayed for the medicine to work so that I can look and feel like myself again. Missed Lila.

Tuning my brain to get use to grotty old England....then am off to the dentist!

Spent the last three hours dealing with an overnight infection of Trojans. Down to one now, but it's looking more and more like a reformat. NOT how I intended to spend my day, nor do I have time for this crap. I've got family in from Baltimore, and we're all going out for dinner tonight, then back here for dessert I have to make yet.

Ate breakfast, took steroids. Ate lunch, took steroids. Tried to work a little. Thought of what to make for dinner tonight (still don't know). Wished for the billionth time that my face would go back to normal. Missed Samantha and wished I could leave work now to go hang out with her. Missed Lila and wished things had turned out differently with her.

Highlight of today was setting up Biztalk and that was not a highlight at all

Tried sleeping in, laundry, chatted, got back to some email, chatted some more.

Got home from work to find my season ticket waiting for me. 4 long weeks till the footie season starts.
Got hold of a copy of Football Factory on DVD to help get me in the mood...

WOOHOO!! I got the call from my real estate agent that my place is ready for walkthrough on Saturday!!!
