nice vids. I guess I'm wired different- lots of folks watch these videos and then try to go emulate them. I watch them to keep me sane (as in-- ok-- we're NOT going to do this!)

3rd day I had my bike, I took it to work. Pulled up to a stoplight at lunch- I'm #1 in the left lane, and a Ferrary 360 Modena pulls up next to me- same color as my bike and all.

Lady in the car looks at me, tosses her nose to the sky snobbishly.

Oh no. It's AWN now. icon_smile.gif

Light changes, she punches it- I punch it- and left her. Not by much, mind you- but quite decisively nonetheless. Got to 60mph (within 3.5 seconds) and backed off it at the next light. She wouldn't even look at me. icon_smile.gif

"Hey, lady-- how's it feel to have your 6-figure car blown away by a $6,000 bike?"

Knew it was stupid and juvenille the entire time I was doing it, but sometimes ya gotta let that little demon on the left shoulder have his fun, or he'll really get you in a pickle. That's about the dumbest thing I've done, though.
the_burner
Yeah, silliness has its price, sometimes it is terminal. Same mind set: great example for what NOT to do on civic road.
Here's another one but still not the Hayabusa I saw before.
Two loons on the highway 330KPH

This second one is incredible. The guy is pulling a wheelie at probably 150MPH!!! A turbo Hayabusa with a clained 499HP!!! These guys are certifiable... Check out how fast they are going when they pass the truck hauling a trailer/with a camper top with what looks like an X on the front of it. Just plain insane.

3 F'ing Loons

Ha ha ha. This will teach you that you can't mess with gravity for too long without having some untoward consequences.

Stunt riders and the perils. icon_biggrin.gif

This one cracks me up, the intro is hilarious. Trust me.

Nice bike, buddy.

Sorry for all the updates however this is where you can download all the videos to your heart's content.

All sorts of great bike vids. Enjoy.
burntkat
This is my standpoint on the whole sportbike thing, and why I will never own a full sportbike-

I admire the engineering that goes into them. I particularly admire the engineering that goes into modifying them, like that Hayabusa.
I admire the skill needed to make the bike perform at anything approaching it's upper limits.

Do it on a track, I am in awe of you, and I'll buy the first round after you're done.

Do it on public streets-- I'd just as soon piss on you. Taking your own life in your hands is your business. Taking other people's in your hands by doing that shit on public roads, you're an asshole who needs to quit wasting my oxygen. I'd just as soon you miss that next corner and remove yourself from the equation- without taking anyone else with you.

-and there are those who say "The biker always loses- even on public roads, there's no way a bike can kill other people in those big cages (cars)". Wrong- I've seen bikes completely impaled within the passenger compartment of cars, killing everyone involved.

Recently was at a shop and watching a kid pick out his new (first) bike. He was looking at a somewhat reasonable 650R (same bike as I have, and no, it's NOT a good first bike). The salesman cranked it for him, "Sounds good, right? Listen to this!" Then fires up the 636 beside it, and bounced it off the revlimiter (from a cold start, without enough time for oil pressure to stabilize, mind you!).

Admittedly, it did sound much better, what with the induction noise and so on- but when will this kid EVER hear that except at a stoplight? In first gear, this bike will nearly double the legal speed limit. It's entirely the wrong bike for a newbie who's looking to save gas money and have a good commuter bike (which is what I bought the 650r for). Unfortunately, the dumbass bought it.
the_burner
I agree with you: there is a time and place to test the limits of yourself, the bike, the vehicle, the track. However, it is not on the public roads, bi-ways and highways. That salesman was also an irresponsible ass*ole. He may have gotten that kid injured, killed or his future passengers or innocent bystanders hurt/killed. Jackasses like that need to muzzled and dropped in a pit with hungry jackals.
Dragonfly
Just doing the law would be nice for starters! Aiding and helping others in the commission of a crime (unsafe vehicular practices) that could injure or kill some one, is not a good sales remedy. Reckless driving encouragement, and a fine to match, or the suspension of a business license my have some effect on this salesman. Don't know what to say about the driver/s-perhaps, ground them, and send them to their room, then donate his bikes to charity! As was noted, there are tracks about, and areas where all sorts of riding tests can be worked out, and demonstrated. Streets are really bad enough today, without doing more to make them unsafe. A nice set of pictures t_b, and good advice from others that have bikes. Very interesting and informative info.

Oppps .... sorry about that!

While I agree with you, I wouldn't hold my breath on any of that happening.

What should be done- for ALL licensing to operate a motor vehicle- is to emulate what they do in Europe- mandatory drivers training (EXTENSIVE, mandatory training), and in the case of motorcycles have a mandatory restriction on displacement/horsepower of the bikes till the rider has a certain amount of time-- both concerning the calendar and the odometer- under his wheels.

That said-- this still won't mean noone does anything stupid on a bike. Look at GhostRider, for example. But sometimes, Darwin is going to have to do is job.
burntkat
funny you should post that pic. I remember reading about it. It was at a rock quarry if I recall correctly. The pickup driver (the small one!) got too close to the back of the dumptruck, wasn't seen when the driver backed up the dump, and there you have it.

Yeah- that's gonna leave a mark. But it'll buff right out of the truck icon_smile.gif`
Dragonfly
Many of the new bikes are very artistic in their presentations. Yet, some shops about here knock off $50,000 bikes as business as usual. The $100,000 bikes are beautiful-still, not having experience, some of the ready off the floor models look great!

Gald you're feeling better, bud. However, you missed Snuffy's question. What did you eat to get food poisoning or are you not sure?
Dragonfly
Sounds like a touch and a half of food poisoning, or warm beer. Yet, warm beer is often neutralized by cold beer! Glad that you are still with us-be well. Df. thumbup1.gif
