I see stupid people too, unfortunately most don't know they are stupid.

And that's probably 75% of the problem right there. They either think they are mentally agile/on the ball/competent while (sadly) they are as mentally agile as a three-legged frozen turtle/pet rock/soap dish or believe themselves to be competent on every subject under the sun plus sadly saddled with an overabundance of misplaced confidence.
The further annoyance is that they usually have an opinion on everything and are only too willing to beat you to death with it at a loud and incessant volume.

woke up at the crack of noon (worked 1600-2400 this week).
Skipped my morning SSS (ick!) in order to head cross town and help a buddy pick up his bike. See, he followed in my footsteps, buying a bike and he hasn't ridden one ever.
Drove his truck back, following to his house- nearly saw him get run down by some asshole in a Wrangler. But he's doing like I did- tooling around his neighborhood, putting 30 mimles on it in his neighborhood.
Stopped in at hooters for lunch, where a particularly tasty black waitress with an AMAZING ass and cleavage was my waitress..... her name? Tequila. Yes, pronunciation and everything- I shit you not. Asked about it, her reply was "Mom's a little crazy". GREAT personality, and made sure to wish me safety on my ride.

Took the work call off (instead of working 8am to 11pm for the third day in a row, only had to do 7pm to 11pm). Picked up my new license plate for the new car, got a new phone and plan at Verizon, paid a bunch of bills, updated all the software on all my various computers, took a nap.

In a weird twist of fate, I'm actually at my house for the night instead of the boy's. Not sure how that happened exactly, but I had to pack a bag to come here since most of my stuff is over there.

Woke up to breakfast in bed, complete with flowers and a necklace. Went home and did laundry, then went to work for a few hours. Now I'm sitting at "my" bar where there's free wireless, waiting for an email, listening to the boy sing karaoke dedicated to me (it's ok...he's actually a singer, frontman for several bands over the years).

Was informed I am to call daily while I'm gone, and that I'm interfering with his sleep patterns by leaving the other half of his bed empty for ten days.

Doofus.

Also went to a four-hour executive board meeting, returned an ungodly number of bottles and cans ($12.80 refund, for pity's sake), stopped back at the office to get a little ahead before I leave, started a bunch of laundry and hauled my suitcase out of the attic to air out so it doesn't smell like attic when I pack tomorrow.

Contract negotiation meeting first thing, stopped by AAA for road construction info (practically NONE! I win!), filled the gas tank, picked up four new paperbacks (two Carl Hiaasen and three Dean Koontz), came home and did the rest of my laundry, packed my bags, put together food for the road, made a bunch of ice for the cooler (I HATE paying for frozen water!), picked up the house, updated the laptop...now I'm just waiting for it to be late enough to meet the boy at the bar. After which I'll spend the night there, then hit the road in the morning.

Drove from mid-Michigan to Gulf Coast Mississippi yesterday, which took just about exactly 17.5 hours. Promptly collapsed on the couch and just now woke up. Of course, that was just as everyone else was going to bed since they work nights, so I've actually spoken to Surv1 a grand total of about three minutes since I invaded his house, but it'll be ok. Glad to hear that you're NOT in the ranks of those who use the moniker "crispy critter." What with the wildfire on that island near L.A. I'm sure the authorities don't need a conflagration on the mainland also.

t_b fireplace for now is "fixed". <fingers crossed> Ever wonder why the same spots continue to burn, this way year after year? Unfortunately, people like to live in some strange, quite dangerous, and unsafe spots. There have always been problems with people clearing out excess brush, and wood about their homes and property-or making some sort of adequate fire brake. Then, in many areas water pipes for fire control do not exist! Never could figure out why folks want to press their luck, especially with a family? BTW, the folks on the Red River in the states, continue to want to live in towns, and in areas that they can no longer obtain flood insurance, i.e., because of flooding. Some did move to higher ground, but there are many homes still in harms way.
SG, your Dad's pellet stove is supposed to be quite warm, and am told is a terrific system for doing heat, and being a clean burning stove. Have not a clue what the bags of this stuff weighs, but quite sure he appreciates your help.

Last night we drove for the best seafood buffet ever, then came back to the house and hung out in the yard drinking beer with friends. Today I was lazy (the boys did a bunch of yard work and then went somewhere...I slept in and then read a book for a while), then we took naps, then drove over to the Boomtown casino for buffet dinner. It was imperative I feed my fresh seafood addiction.

Now I'm watching TV and mucking about online, waiting for Patrick to get out of work so I can talk to him.
